Don't ask me - I didn't write the bleeding article. I'm guessing they didn't have a good test for that??Originally Posted by chrisscaines

Yah hoo. At last someone else recognises this small fact. The Aust army did a test over a period of time with lubed vs unlubed chains on their bikes. The unlubed chains (no lube applied at all) lasted as long as the ones that were regularly lubed. I always cop shit from mates for not regularly using expensive chain lube. All I occassionally use is Inox (great shit that stuff!) and if it's a track day, I make sure I hit it before heading out.Originally Posted by Tuono Tex

I clean the chain of my ZX 12 R with MD40 once a year. So far it has not at all damaged the rings. After cleaning it, i dry it with a cloth and drive the bike for half an hour in order to get rid of all the oil remainders. Then i put a good quality white chain lube on the chain. BUT NOT ALL OVER THE COMPLETE CHAIN BUT ONLY PARTS OF IT. thazt the secret. Too many people use too much of that stuff and find it on the wheels again after driving. The rotation of the chain and the sprocket makes sure that the lube is spread evenly all over it anyway. Lubing the chain every 2-300 miles is sufficient (Again: small amounts of lube)
