Question Need Help on Buying a 2001 Mille R

Hello, I am fairly new to the Aprilia bikes and was looking into buying a 2001 Mille R. It has 24,000 miles (38,624 km) on it. Is there anything to look for or ask the dealership? Also I would like to hear any reasons why or why not I should buy a Mille R with that many miles on it. Any help would be very appreciated.

    Thank you very much........

    I Think It's Too High

I would be concerned about the high mileage, especially on a bike that is only a couple of years old.

Unless $8500 is the maximum your budget allows, I'd be looking at spending $1500 more and getting a bike with a lot less mileage. Check www.cycletrader.com, eBay, and the for sale section here for comparison.

In addition, some dealers are unloading new leftover 01s RSVRs for $11,500, so anyone selling a used 01 would have to consider that in their own pricing.

Unless you absolutely have to have an R, there are lots of good deals on used and new RSVs. That would be the way to go for street riding anyway.

I agree....Too many miles for that price. There are plenty of Mille's with low miles for sale in the same price range or less. Some of these bikes are standard Mille's as well as RSVR's with expensive mods (dual exhaust, upgraded suspension, etc.). I would definately consider a standard if it will be primarily ridden on the street.

My Mille was a standard 2001 (7800 miles) with OZ wheels, Ohlins rear shock, upgraded Showa forks, dual Arrow SBK exhaust, FP chip, EVO race airbox, more carbon than an R, adjustable rearsets, new DID chain with Sprockets. I sold it for less than 8000.00.

I'd keep looking if I were you.

I wouldn't consider 24k high mileage. Just make sure it has been maintained (i.e. service records) and, with regular service, it should be good for 124,000 miles.
