If it is so unreliable than than in 7 years i have not had any problems like that, still all original cables and electronics. Maintanace also includes things like lubricating the cables, Not just cleaning the bike!

Is been still from 2003 to 2005, and that should have made it worse because wen its standing still you get things coroding stuk.

Alrite Charles i have a full set of clocks, but you would only want the actually speedo one, the only problem is its got no glass on the front but you could nick it off your ones now, problem is they got 20k on the clock and dont know if they work cos my speedo cable is broke and i havent tried em , we could arrange a very cheap price if you do need em, and if they dont work just pop em back in the post and ill give you your money back, juts PM me if you need them

Bet just the cable snaped...

btw if you lubricate a cable use a special lubricant made to lubricate cables or use PTFE spray.
Other lubricants will do more damadge than good to the cable.

If it isn't the cable, it's more likely to be the speedo drove at the axle than the clocks.

If you don't maintain it, it won't be reliable.

maintain it? lol. christ i spend more time taking care of my bike than riding it. hence i never tend to have any problems....these things just happen...it isnt really a problem though.
what IS a problem is the fact that the bike must ahve been in some accident i didn't know about cos the top yoke left handlbar tube has dissintegrated.

these are the risks you take when you are buying second hand, plus most of us are jsut starting out. what can i expect of a bike that ahs had 5 previous owners? it has served me well for the last 2000miles with a 99p rear bulb going.

i suppose replacing it with a decent new yoke will look good when i come to sell the bike. i have always been very cautious with my bike and never had a crash/fallen off. it is just one of those accidents.

truth be told it was probably mroe a case of having a rickety garage on a different level trying to push it up a thin ramp and just losing it, although i never had any problems before and there was some oil which had dripped which i should ahve observed. oh well i wander why the service says replacement of the rear tire advised and yet only temporary maintainance was done...starting to reveal a worrying bit of history now, and the handlbar was lose when we bought the bike....but no signs of damage.

i will NEVER buy a second hand bike now without thoroughly expecting the top yoke. first lesson in buying second hand

You might be able to find just the speedo clock, but you could probably swing a set for as little as £30 if someone on here is willing to sell a set that cheap.

You couldget a set from a dealer, but they would be a lot more expensive and I dunno if they'd reset them to the mileage you had on your old ones? It would be handy when you come to sell it if they didn't.

I dont know if its possible to reset the mileage but i know its illegal if you go to sell the bike and dont make the buyer aware of it. If you take it to a mechanic he should record the previous mileage in the service statement.

awarte of the fact the they have stopped. lol i dont think it willbe an issuew as they stopped coming back from walden so it has missed about 4 miles and as the bike has a buggered yoke the next day i ahrdly think it is significant enough to warrant any legal action...

obviously the last service says 13862 to it would look just a tad suspect if it was less and im also not gonna cover more than that between now and when i sell it...
