This little (not so little, 30mm or so in length) guy was posing for me on the porch the other evening. There are thousands of these things all over my hood' right now, good thing we do not grow corn or I would be close to loosing my mind. Having had a fairly mild and wet spring for the area the numbers of bugs that survived 18 months of extreme drought is amazing. Fireflies and Bees though are still in very short supply which sort of sucks because I had photo plans for both this year. Ladybugs are back...I know, nature fag....

BTW, PayPal question for you guys. I have an account obviously with PayPal and have for years but, have only used it for eBay transactions. Now that I am parting out the 03' RSV many of you are planning to pay via Paypal...which leads me to the question, do I just give you my "username" or "real name" or what to make these transactions possible? I am guessing you only need my PayPal username or email, hook me up with some learnings!

We talked about this a while back. Seems like there are really only 2 simple options on how to make 2 coils fire-off at 60 degree intervals with a wasted spark design:
2 pickups spaced at 60 degrees with a single tooth triggering each. This could use most any single cylinder spark control system x 2. The problem is mounting the pickups on a stock alternator cover.
1 pickup with 2 teeth spaced at 60 degree interval. Dynatek would have to internally switch between coils on each tooth: coil1-coil2-coil1-coil2 This has the potential to have the smallest footprint. Use the Denso-type rotor assembly and eliminate 4 of the 6 teeth.

So for the last week or so the weather here has been way too bad for flying...so of course my poor weather option is to play weather chaser...

Here are some shots and screen captures from various tornado warned cells I have managed to get on in the last week. In the last 7 days I managed to get on 7 tornado warned cells, and so far have seen zero tornadoes in those seven cells. The other day, last Thursday was an outbreak type event in south Texas with cell after cell becoming tornadic in the same general area, one after another. I wish I had gotten more pics from Kennedy (one of most evil looking wall clouds I have seen to date) but I was too busy driving and staying aware of what was happening to take pictures, it was literally that fully engaging! When you are directly underneath the mesocyclone's business end it takes a lot of attention, ANY of the rotations you see in area under the wall cloud can become the tornado....QUICKLY. After last years EPIC FAIL of getting hit directly by a tornado I am taking it a bit more seriously this year...

So those were the crappy pics...here come the better ones. Make sure to click to enlarge if you like one, they look much better without the forum's compression.

Most of these shots were from Beeville, George West, and Goliad areas of Texas, South of the shop by a hundred miles or so.

Some of these are probably repeats...the ones I was trying to load here are the lightning shots from Canyon Lake, or home...or close to home. I still have not gotten a "Killer" lightning shot this year...but I will...because I keep trying...

Some random stuff from around the shop, an 85' Toyota MR2 getting a newer Turbocharged Yamaha motor swapped into it...James in Parts, his personal project, I know little about it. The other is my Vespa 300 Super, finally running on it's own...might actually get to ride it very soon!

A few pics from the last week that stood out as worthy of mention here. The BMW S1000rr Drag Bike will be a fun tuning project don't ya' think?

This is where I am currently at with the custom MSD ignitions for the custom carbureted Aprilia/Rotax V990 powered custom bike. One crank trigger is a Futura magnetic pickup and the other is a stock RSV/RSVR/SL/Tuono Gen1 pickup. They are exactly 60 degrees apart...now to get all the other shit hooked up and see if I can not only make spark but make it happen at the right time for each cylinder while still starting like stock and idling perfectly...easy job right? Oh yeah, still have to finish building the wiring harness too!

Well tomorrow is going to be a big day guy and gals for me personally. Thanks to the goodness of this forum and the purchases made by members and friends I am finally officially going to be the owner and possessor of an aircraft of my very own. N66676 arrives in the morning and after getting a little dual instruction time in I will be giving the seller (another forum member) a ride back home to North Texas. I got the plane insured yesterday and paid up my hangar lease. The insurance was rather surprising especially considering I am only a student pilot and therefore had to insure the plane, myself and my instructor who is like 21 years old. When the quote came back at $666/year what could I do but say yes, after all it matched the tail number perfectly and was the lowest quote I had gotten to date. I will be taking some pics of the bird to share tomorrow but will probably not get them right up on the web due to driving 500 mile roundtrip to finish up the deal. Just wanted to thank you guys for being awesome and loyal customers because without all of you, well there would be none of this sort of thing for me!
