The "What's in the AF1 shop" Thread

Well here my new thread blog. I will just post up some comments and pics from the back shop so you guys can see what is going on from time to time. I get to mess with a lot of really cool bikes, all brands and ages and I figured you guys might enjoy this type of thread. Fell free to post back, I hardly get any time online anymore with us being so busy but I do dearly appreciate that you guys keep us swimming in business.

These are all form this week:

Here is the bike I took home/test riding tonight. A 2001 Falco that was in for make run/rotors/XR pads and prep for trip to Laguna. The rotors were warped, the replacements are the newer generation Brembos. The stock pads are now "spares" and Ferodo 2042 XRAC pads are now pressed into the new disks by an otherwise stock hydraulic system. I also added Heli Bars to this one, tonights 40 mile ride proved them to be much more relaxed than the stock bars and with no downsides on a Falco that I can think of other than an even greater tendency to wheelie in the lower gears.

Nice ride for sure. The owner will hopefully like what he gets back on Saturday. A little more fine tuning on the idle circuit is required but she is basically good to go.

This is an NSR50 Honda I am doing basic "supersport" type prep on for a dude in San Antonio.

.2mm off head to set squish at .7mm. Polish combustion chamber and squish band to both detect and reduce detonation. Re-machine better threads in spark plug hole since stock threads sucked donkey ass.

port cylinder at a mild level but at least 50% better than stock. Add Jemco race pipe and Kitaco Ignition kit to better cope with 24mm Kehin round slide carb kit already installed. Tune in back lot for Sprint racing.

The exhaust port was raised 2mm, polished and slightly widened to less than 62% of max diameter of course...nicel done I must say. The transfers were raised 1.2mm and widened to max possible, boost was raised 1.6mm to match transfers...

    The head got better too:

Small changes can make a big difference on a two stroke. 1mm here or there may make 40% more power later....1mm on each side here may be about 15% more...much less heat will be trapped too.

I got myself this bike for pennies the other night. It is a 1997 RS125 street bike with blown motor. There might be 20 of these in the entire USA so for me to find a basket case in Austin in this condition is rare...a fun project this will be. A lot more to come in the future on this one.

The Rotax 123 in the frame is damaged but fixable...and I am a two stroke fag after all. The motor is soooo tight! The combustiuon chamber is of the insert variety and there is a LOT of room for more performance from what I have seen...

Hmm scooters...this was my hell today. This A500 needed a service and apparently a little more power. The belt was still at "new" spec after 10,000 miles and a lot of suffering to get to where I could even see it.

Hmm...after 10K miles the spark pluy looks like ass too...time for Iridium slugs in there...ohh yeas, much nicer!

After all this the throttle response was 10 times better and the bike ran to 90 mph faster than I would have ever guessed possible for a 600 lbs scooter!
