Big Bore Kit FOR SALE -£40!

Hi all, selling a DR 73.5cc big bore kit cos I need the money. The barrel was only used by me for around 500kms MAX but it is so worth it. Makes it so much easier, especially around town. I can send the jet if needed (cant remmeber size) for a standard 12mm carb that I ran mine with fine.

IT WILL NEED A NEW PISTON

When I fitted the piston I pushed the started button and took a chunk off the edge of the piston (twat i know lol). ANd because of this it has resulted in 2 other pieces coming away from the piton, probably down to unbalanced weight of the piston.

The barrell is spotless and gaskets are ALL reusable except for the base gasket which should be changed but will send with it anyway.

To get this running you will just need a piston (can send this one with it if you wanted to run it but I wouldnt really reccomend even though it ran fine on mine).

    I want £40 + delivery (probably be about £5-£7)

    Surely a bargain.

The BBK was originally on Dom's (youngun) RS50 for bout 5000kms so has LOTS of life left, been sat in my drawer in my bedroom for bout 2 months now!

Get some pics up and I'll probably take it off your hands. I need a new piston+rings anyway because the 16000km service is due.

Edit: Anyone recommend running it without a new crank? I can afford the bore and to get a garage to fit it, but not a new crank.

Also, has it done 500km like you said or 5000km from Dom+500km on yours? Cheers.

IIRK, it says in the service manual to check and change the rings at 10k and the piston and rings at 16k

Hmmm, well a brand new bore kit costs about £100, so £40 is quite a good price. But it does look like it needs a bit of a clean :p

The only thing really worrying me is how many miles it has done.

How many miles do you think it has left on it?

Also, can you run a stock piston witha big bore, because I'm not sure where I can get the right piston from. Thanks again.

It is almost spotless from any dirt, the rust in the water jacket is from using tap water instead of distilled. This does not affect the performance of the cooling system or BBK.

Why? What you are buying here is everything except a piston, look in the service manual, it doesnt say 'Change the barrel at xxx KM's' jsut change the piston, if warmed up properly, use quality oil there is no reason why this wont last for over 20,000km's (just a random figure)

Right...... The whole idea of a 'Big Bore Kit' is that the BORE of the cylinder is larger than standard. Meaning the piston HAS to be bigger to fit this hole. There is no way you could run any stock piston in any big bore kit.

I am almost certain this is the CORRECT PISTON

£40 for a spotless BBK barrel is a bargain I think.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound arrogant in my last post, but as for not knowing about the psiton size, that's why I asked. I thought it was only the cylinder that made the difference and not the piston.

But yeah, £40 isn't exactly breaking the bank now is it? So if you give me your address in a PM or email I can post a cheque to you.

I would use paypal, but it doesn't like me very much and I've never been able to figure out how to use it properly.

    Cheers.

EDIT: I'll post some pics when I get back from work tonight. They are for the rear, but the fottrests themselves are the same, so there shouldn't be a problem there.

He said he's taken a chunk out from the inside, or at least thats what it sounded like.

Here's the pics you wanted Vickers.

They look a bit tatty atm because they've been sitting in my garage for about three months now. I'll sand them and spray them (the hangers) if you're stil interested.

EDIT: I've talked to my parents about buying this and they don't want to order the piston from AF1 and have basically forbidden me from buying anything that isn't new. Sucks I know, but its their house. So I'm afraid I can't have it off you Vickers.

I would recommend anyone buying this because for £40 you really can't go wrong.
