Mr. Pete---->
Not much to do. Attach the inner piece first (the part towards the center of the bar) and warp them over the end cap. I cut a little plastic around the inner piece just so I didn't have to warp them as much.
The handguards work very well on the CN without much modification, as you can see. Check out the "BMW Handguards" section in this forum. Use the search button.

Just finished installing them.....real easy to do.....sharp looking...and they work!. nice simple add on for the CAPO, i'm glad i did it. The only mod. i did was to counter sink the bar ends.

Tony,
How did you countersink the bar ends?
Mr. Pete---->
The gaurds come with a washer that centers them on the bar ends. remove and secure the bar ends, i used rubber jaw vice.
i found a dirll bit that was slightly larger than the opening in the gaurd, and had close to the same tapper as the washer.
take a little off at a time, until the washer can hold the guard in place. touch up with high gloss black paint.

For those of us that have installed a Throttlemeister (so have the weight at the end of the handlebar that needs to be able to rotate), is there still a way to install these (or some other) hadnguards?![]()
How did you install your throttlemeiser? When I purchased my bike the mechanic said that it would not work. Something about the plastic?????
Any pictures or "insight" would be appreciative. I did see someone that had both installed. Where???
Mr. Pete---->
I had the wrench at my Aprilia dealer install the Throttlemeister, but others have installed one themselves. The key aspects of the installation as I recall are:
(a) you want to buy the "heavy" version of Throttlemeister -- it has larger endcaps that look really nice on the Capo;
(b) I had mine installed in conjunction with HotGrips, and apparently the center of the grips had to be drilled out in order for the Throttlemeister's weight to be properly installed.
This topic was covered a few months ago on the Yahoo list. If you go there and do an archive search using the word "Throttlemeister" you should find that info. meanwhile, here's a photo of the T-meister.
I don't see how it could work. The plastic surrounding the end cap on the guards, once sinched down, would prevent the Throttlemeister from turning. Take a look at a set installed on a GS next time your at the dealer. It would be hard to turn the Throttlemiester once installed as well.Originally posted by bmyates

Can someone post close-up pictures of the BMW handguards installed on the CapoNord? Thanks in advance, Hans
What model should I use? The same as the r1150 g/s? Thx, grant-

Don't know how all you guys managed to make the 1150GS guards fit without modification. I fitted mine at the weekend and aside from modifying the end caps (grind the 'inner' bit down to about 1mm high) I also removed a lot of plastic from the lower part of the guard to prevent it fouling the tank on full lock. I guess I didn't have to do this but I was worried about damage to the paint in the longer term - I always lock my steering when I leave the bike and that resulted in the guard 'dragging' across the tank.
The guards also *just* graze the indicator housings, but this obviously depends on how you have the bars and levers adjusted.
g_e_young - you need 1150GS guards, not 1100GS which are a different shape.
i installed the bmw 1150 gs guards and they are cool accept they seem to be scratching the top corners of the tank?
Anyone else get this problem? and how did ya fix it if ya did? move em some way?

ScarrJaw, see my previous post - I had to re-profile the lower part of the guards to clear the tank. Although it's a bit awkward you really need to do this after you've fitted the guards so you can check the clearances as you modify them.
I used side-cutters to 'nibble' away the plastic until about the right amount had been removed, then used progressively finer abrasive paper to add the curved edge profile and smooth it all off. Now you can hardly tell they've been modified.
When you're using the abrasive paper (I used an 80-grit sanding disk to start with, but not on the grinder) be careful of the tank, If you think you might slip, cover the tank with something to protect it.
