    US magazine reviews

I've scanned some magazine reviews. I thought some might like reading through them. Moderators, please delete this thread if it violates any board policies on posting printed material. (I didn't see anything in the forum rules prohibiting this, but I may have missed it.)

    Same shit-new wrapping
I have read almost all english and scandinavian test reports, and in general they all say the same. Not one (including MCN!) had a negative remark exept some moaning about the look of the front fairing.

Best you don't read the June issue of Fast Bikes then !! (I know-bloody daft as we are still in April!!)

In a group test of 4,the Tuono came third behind the KTM Superduke and Triumph Speed Triple.Only the Ducati Monster S4R scored lower.

They basically said that the bike was improved over the older version but that the front was still much too vague and remote. They added that only by building a naked bike from scratch,as opposed to stripping the RSVR,would Aprilia improve the front end.

I would scan it in but I gave the mag away after reading it

    I'm on my way.

I like the bike. I really do. But until I have a chance to see one in person, sit on it, maybe even wrangle a test ride, it's going to be hard to lay down 13 grand.

The season has only just started. I've got plenty of time left in the year and something tells me that Tuonos will still be available next season too.

    "Fast Bikes"

Come to think of it, can anyone here remember an Aprilia that Fast Bikes rated highly? I can't...and since the words vague and/or remote were never seen mentioned so much as once in the other tests, their opinion of the front end is of dubious worth- especially since that same front end is given special praise by others.

It might not be a case of journalistic bias. Last year the American magazine Motorcycle Consumer News gave the new Triumph Sprint ST what I think is that bike's only terrible review. They hated the brakes, fuel injection, engine heat, and a list of other faults. Given the glowing reviews by other magazines, it might be a safe assumption that MCN was given a poorly set up or even faulty bike to test. Perhaps Fast Bikes got a Tuono that had been poorly prepared or even abused.

....2 of the biggest sleepers in m/bikes & own a T06,my call, whoever wrote that should be in "American Pie".I've pushed the front ends of my previous bikes & they were setup for my weight with suspension dialed in(top shelf aftermarket),same roads but this time on the Tuono, the feel in the front was very informative with no hint of it losing it's line. They had a bad setup & a 'RAG' that does a comparison with out dialing the bikes in first, well.....

I think the headline on the last page says it all:
"It's clearly not for the cautious or the inexperienced." (that could be a great sales pitch, every man and his dog would want one)
Maybe these guys are one, or both of the above. There's only one reviewer that I take any notice of and that's my arse on the seat. Haven't bought a bike mag for over 3 years because they're all crap as far as bike reviews go.

I haven't bought a mag since Nov as I knew what bike I was getting by then & had read everything I could get my hands on about the Tuono. Now that I have this bike a lot of reading about other bikes just doesn't do it for me.

Hehehe T06, you're truely smitten, good on you, it's great to see some passion and lust for a modern bike.

The other reviewers that I listen to are my mates. Big range from Jappers to Ducs and Trumpies and a few odd ones on beemers (but we don't talk much about them). They all rave about the Tuono as they did the RSV, and most aren't backwards in their assessment of bikes. That says alot to me, that and the fact that I have to fight to get on the Tuono now, just as I did the RSV (I don't leave the keys in it for one moment when I'm not on it!) Last weekend I went for a strap with my bro, just a quick blat up the hills, thought I'd be generous and let him take the Tuono, BIG mistake, hours later I manage to catch him and restle the keys back off him only because he had to stop for a squirt!
