Hey there! Enjoy the old scoot! Take good care of her. I always ran Motul, which Rick always has.

    Trying to disassemble minarelli gearbox

I have my engine torn down to the flywheel (whiich I need a special puller to pull, and I have my transmission removed to the final drive gears and have taken out the gears.

Next step is to have a shop press off the primary gear, and shaft and to press on the new ones. How much should this service cost do you think?

    thx

Wow forgot about this thread and just now saw the newer replies. The 93mph was speedo and radar confirmed. Is this tiba from scooterforums? I know you guys in PI have some serious jog motors! The bike I'm referring to is a bike that I owned in Hawaii when I was going to school there. I then sold it to George of cycle imports of hawaii who then did futher work on it. He was on the scooterforums and had a thread about it there. It only did 74 when I had it then it went full polini evo h20 on it. I then bought it back last summer and had it shipped up to me here in Alaska. I'm still working on it some more. I had a bad seize and also need to change the gears back so I've got some tuning and work to do. I haven't been in this or the european scooter forums in awhile. I've been mostly in the Hawaii scooter forums.

there I am in Dunedin New Zealand and plan to fit a Polini kit, 166 0104 46mm bore, 7.5 HP. to my scooter.

I have another carb a 20mm mikuni from a Yamaha AG 100 ( low performance farm bike) with a 140 main jet and a freeflow pod filter. Does anyone have any idea if this will run, or maybe what size jet would you care to recommend.

I reckon its pretty close, but then I am a self taught bike repairer and a Gardener by trade.

other wise I will get one of these...

So any help would be much appreciated. From the quality of the posts and files on this com I am sure someone wil be able to help.

Everytime I ask the bike shops around here for tuning I get blank stares, and find I have found enough on the net to do most jobs.

I have one of those taiwan scoots, mine is a CPI SS50 a Yamaha Clone. With all restrciters removed and some carb tuning, main jet at 1/32 of an inch. I can get an honest ( by the speedo) 84kph, on a flat road with no tail wind. I have also fitted a smallfairing which has helped.
Next step soon as I have all the parts, a Chamber, 20mm Mikuni and a 46mm Poloini "70" kit. I dont expect more speed as gears limit this, but am looking foward to keeping the speed on the road and hills.

I am sure this is the place to ask, how do I jet a 70cc kit?? I have a 20mm Mikuni with a 140 mj and a free filter.
Does this sound about right. It is from a Yamaha 100 farm bike, the AG100, a low performance sort of thing.
I have pipe, Polini kit and carb to fit soon on my CPI SS 50, which already does 84kph on the flat with no wind, that would be cheating/ hills and wind. Not convinced the speedo is 100% accurate, but its flatout and such a rush most times.

    Any help would be great.

well to answer my own question and sorry I posted three times!! I fitted the carb to the 50cc, it will not run and I think is too rich. But it fits and the throttle cable did not need to be replaced. A wee mod was needed to make an extra lenght of cable, I used a bit of copper pipe for this. Now I wil reove it and go back to std. Waiting for an expert to reply to the above, please, so I can get on and get the kit fitted. Real keen to do this and soon.

a 140 jet would be too rich but it should still start and run. I switched to a 115 for a while but haven't dialed it back in for summer. I ran a 120 last year I think, but can't find it. I broke my intake hose, so as so as I replace it I will be dialing her back in.

Edit: The 1/32 is about a #80 jet which is about right for restricting or mild performance improvements.

wel I fitted all my parts and am having a great time. I am running on the 140 mj and took it up to 150 and its running OK at that, even tho all who have helped say its too rich.

The pipe works well, which it did not on the 50cc, acceleration is amazing and it goes fast right to 70kmh and feels like it will go much faster than the speedo says.

I had a small seize most likly from going to fast too soon, and its still going, so I am taking it easy for some time.

The carb fell off! made it hard to start, I am working on some extra mounts for the aircleaner.

Thanks for the help those who posted.

I'm running an 08 Aprilia SR50 Factory R (DiTech) with piaggio engine, all i've done to it, is put a leo vince ZX pipe on it, put tight clutch springs on it and a decent torq spring. On the duel carriage-way i have been clocked at 65mph and 67mph by 2 of my mates in their cars. they were doing 70 and when its narrowed down to 1 lane n went steep downhill, i flew away from them, they reckon i was pushing 75. So yer i do belive that guy who said his bike did 75 downhill. Not trying to start an argument here btw, just that you all talking about tuning ure peds n getting no more than 55 downhill :S My 01 RX50 with a K&N air filter and leo vince V6 full pipe does 55 on flat.

Nearly all my mates that i ride with are pushing 55-60 round our area.

    Thanks,
    Ryan
