What weekend is the GNF?
I can probably come up with some ATL suggestions if I have enough time to think about it... (I lived there 12 years)

usually they don't post the schedule until a week prior to the event-give or take a day or so. hopefully they'll post it a bit sooner because i'm sure this is gonna be a big event. i'll be there as well. hopefully all us forum guys can hang out sometime that weekend. jc

John, you planning on doing the GNF? Will the wife let you go with an 1 month old baby? I know mine would've shot me for even thinking of going anywhere when Aaron was that old er......young.
well i told her about it last night while she was half asleep. i'm hoping i can make it. if i do i plan on getting my ass kicked. i've never been to this track-its gonna be ugly but i gotta try. she just might try to shoot me, its ok though, i've got a bullet proof vest.![]()
the minute she goes into labor ill be off from work with her- for about a month all together, some away time wouldn't be too bad. I'm sure i'll be driving her crazy somehow. Dug you gonna make the gnf?? who from the forum is going to the GNF??????

I believe there is a practice day on Wed, 12th and the racing starts Thursday (vintage classes if like in the past) and then the rest of the classes on thru till Sunday.
I'm saving a few vacation days so I can go down for all four days. Should be around the Touring Sport trailer in between the races.
Hope to catch up with all you guys and put faces on the names.
Cheers,
Mark
P.S. Don't know much about all the sites to see in Atlanta, but I have heard that Stone Mountain State Park is a must see.
In theory, there is no difference between theory & practice. In practice, there is.
As of right now, I'm 11th, 8 points out and in the other one I'm 13th, 4 points out. If I do get into the top 10, I don't know if I'll go. Money and time being one concern. The second is that overlaps with a Champion date. I told Mike that I would support Champion to the fullest.
Dug,
My brother works on the P3s' for Lockeed over at Donaldson Center, only about 6 miles from here. If you ever have the occasion to fly in just let me know and I'll buy you a beer.

Dug, what region are you in?
As of right now I'm 14 and 16 in the SE. Correct me if I'm wrong ( first year with wera) I was told top 15 were invited.
I'm really in the Mid-Atlantic region. But, the North East overlaps it at alot of the races. Hey, your right. It is the top 15. I thought it was the top 10. Maybe I was getting confused with the top 10 at the GNF get bumped up to Expert.
mfbRSV, do you by any chance know how far NAS Atlanta is from the track? If I go, I may try to stay there to save on costs.
Dug,
Looks like ~58 miles, mostly interstate. On the weekend I would guesstimate about 70 minutes driving time at the speed limit.
Mapquest NAS Atlanta to Road Atlanta
Should not be much morning traffic on the weekend mornings, but on weekdays it will be heavy.

At $6 a gal in Atlanta, a hotel would be cheaper. Weather permitting, I'd probably camp.
the GNF schedule is up on www.wera.com and we have our HWT-SB race on Friday the 14th October, it is the last race of the day. I just hope there isnt an afternoon thunderstorm as i hate the wet/dry track situation when you dont know if you should run rains, DOT's or slick![]()
hopefully Rocky Stargel will make sure Brian Stokes has a huge lunch so he falls asleep and misses the race, it may be the only way we can beat him![]()
Do you think that since it's so late Tray will be any slower? Umm......I'm thinking not.
