    Gearing Recommendations?

I'm picking up my Mille R in the next few days and have a couple of questions.

I'd like to order a 520 chain and "gears", But I'd like some suggestions from racers what is a good countershaft sprocket size to go with and a rear sprocket size or sizes.

I know it depends on the track size. We race mostly on shorter tracks. Not alot of long straight type tracks. I think the longest one is about 1/2 mile long. But thats one track out of 5.

Just looking for some good starting points!

    TIA

    Dang, Busted!

Well, I actually sold the R6 two races into last race season. I had actually planned not to race it at all because I purchased TZ250 to race. But 1 freakin' month before the first race, I had a crank seizure. Missed the first two races on it trying to get it put together.

Did well on the TZ, Consistent top 3 finisher and even a win on the fastest track we race on. But the TZ is too much work. I can't just ride it and put it in the garage. Every outing meant the heads and cylinders would have to come off for inspection. Every 300 miles, a new top end, 1200 miles rebuild the crank. Pretty pricey to keep running too. My preseason purchase of "consumables" and a crank rebuild put my before season expense at about 1500 dollars.

Don't tell the guys on the R6 board

I like 16:44 for faster roads and tracks and 15:44 for shorter stuff.

    Gearing

I run the 16/44 combo and absolutely agree that it's the way to go for street riding/canyon carving etc.

I've run pretty much the whole gambit of bolt on performance mods and think the 16/44 is probably the best return on the dollar.

    So far completed is:

    Harris 2-2 race system
Evoluzione race air box and filter
    Evoluzione ignition amplifier
    Hi Po plugs/plug wires
    Evoluzione custom Hi Po chip
54mm throttle bodies and accompanying SP stacks
    16/44 gears (525 D.I.D./AFAM sprockets)
    Arrow rear sets
    M-1's and HH pads
