    Rattly clutch?

I've noticed my clutch is getting very rattly.... it doesn't slip at all but it is making quite a din.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Er, if I pull in the clutch virtually all the sound disappears. It's almost as loud as the Duke's used to be!

The clutch in my secondhand engine does exactly the same, it's not too bad when the engine is cold, but has a tendency to drag a little till it warms up. When hot there is quite a racket until I pull the lever.

This engine came out of a written off RSV trackday bike and has had a much harder life than my original one. I reckon that it's time for both of us to rebuild our clutches, no doubt someone on here can confirm my suspicion.

That isn't an Aprilia, it's a Ducati with the word Ducati crossed out and Aprilia written on in crayon.

Define "rattly" for us....is it a higher pitch, Ducati-dry-clutch-type of sound? Or is it a deeper sound? Is it at all rpms? How many miles on the bike and on the clutch?

I would call it clattery - quite "chunky" in sound, not really high pitched.
22000+ miles on the bike & clutch - but no apparent sign of slippage, or drag...

Has anyone any idea at all what Nooj & Kiwifalco were on about? 'Cos I'm completely flummoxed! Is it a Kiwi thing or something? What's a bruski when it's at home?

Cool.... It's nice to know it's not in imminent danger of self-destruction!

Ah.... never saw a lot of Monty Python so I didn't really catch on - the only ones that readily spring to mind now are the parrot, the piston engine, spam and the lumberjack song!

Guess I led a sheltered life....

Is that what kiwifalco's post was related to as well?

Shog . . . here's an informative read on the Falco clutch, if you haven't already seen it.
