    RS250 99' RPM indicator problem

Hi. I 'm having some problems with the tachometer of my RS250. From time to time , it show wrong rmp. For example , with the bike at idle it shows 6000 RPM. I have to take out the 20A fuse in order to "reset" it , but i loss the partial odometer and other info (max speed , avg speed). What can be the problem? Anyone know exactly how the RPM indicator of this bike works? Is there anyway to reset this indicator without having to remove the fuse? Thanks!

The tacho tells lies if the battery is going flat or is near flat. That could be the problem
