Why can't you? Thye aren't exactly rare... and for my money, the Dragster is the better of the two

    Mike,

I haven't been to locate an Italjet or Gilera, here in the states. Even if I could find one, I'm not sure how easy it would be to get registered here in Texas. I'd like to find one that someone has already passed through the registration process, tit, etc. Then, I would know it could be done and wouldn't be a complete waste of money.

BTW.. I know most people choose the Dragster over the Runner but I like the Gilera the best, traditional yet sporty.

    Cheers and Merry Christmas,
    Jason

Well they are plenty common here

I would think it would classify as a motorcycle as it is 180cc, etc. so registration shouldn't present too much of a challenge.

If you want help with finding one, there are a couple of good websites I can point you to. You can get a good Dragster here, with hop-ups like Malossi barrels, carb kit, vario kit, exhaust for around £500 - 600.

Transport to the US would be around £250.

I am lead to believe there are only 10-15 dragster 180's here in Adelaide South Australia.

I paid more than i wanted to spend on mine, but then again, i got at least $1000 more for my car when i sold it than i expected.
I paid $5500 AUD for my 2000 model Dragster with jolly moto pipe, 25mm dellorto carb, pod, polini speed control, delta clutch, kevlar belt etc.
Even a Gilera runner two stroke is not easy to find here in south australia.
I should be able to get around $3000 AUD for my 2003 Aprilia when I sell it next month.

    pricey here huh???

    cheers

Thanks Mike. Any info would be appreciated.

I think the problem with registration and title is that it's a 2-Stroke larger than 49cc. Someone who knows a bit more about this could probably clarify this for me.

I'm fine if it's only a matter of registering it as a true motorcycle. I've had my motorcycle license for 17yrs. The smallest street bike I've owned, before the SR has been a 600cc. I now ride a Yamaha FJR1300. I need to research this a bit more and maybe give a call to the DMV.

    Cheers,
    Jason

    FOOK!

That would run you to about £600 here... maybe a grand if it was absolutely top spec.

Even cheaper in France and Italy.

Yes it’s a bit louder but sounds better.
I would say it’s got the same top speed but it’s not as fast into the wind.
The acceleration is lots lots better.
It’s at least half the weight and looks lots better.
