Do i have the "gameboy" tuning or not?

    Hi!

I bought a Aprilia sr50 ditech-02 and it is going really nice.
but i would like to add some more tuning to it..

What i have understand after reading in several forums i found out that is not good for the engine to just remove the variator "brick" and NOT "gameboy" tune the injection, i s this correct?

The thing is that there is no variator brick on my scooter and it shows up to 90km/h with one passenger (when im driving self too)

my question here is, do i have,or do i dont have the gameboy tuning???
-could it really do 90km/h without having the gameboy tuning??

    Greatful for help!

I agree--there's no way you would get that speed without de-restricting and updating the software. Now your next step is to get a performance exhaust.

There is no way that you will get that sort of speed if it hasnt been electronically destricted. I think they are limited to 80km from the factory? So you will probably only get about 70km in real terms. Someone else may be able to comment on real speeds on restricted scooters.

When you turn the key and turn on the injector button, how long does your fuel pump prime? (I'm sure you have been updated, I'm just trying to figure out which version you have)

how long does your fuel pump prime?

That will ony tell what version software you are running, 4-sec priming: 2.6.0 or older, 8-sec priming: 2.7.0 or newer software. There's (almost) no way to check if it's in "dealer test mode", if you hook up the GameBoy it will not tell how it's set so you just have to go in an set it in "dealer test mode" to be sure that it's done right....

I havent count the second but is pretty sure that the pump goes for about 4 sec.

As i wrote earlier it shows up til 90km/h even with a passenger - offcourse this is not real km/h - the thing is that sometimes when you go up to 90 - it feels like there is more to give but that there is a limit at 90km/h could this be correct?

And is it possible that i have an older version of the gameby tuning that may not allow the scooter to go faster than 90? - could i than update to newer software and remove the limit??

    Very thankfull for all help!

It will not go much faster than that so most likely it's set in "dealer test mode" = de-restricted, sure it can be de-restricted in older versions of the software but as far as we are today with 2.8.1 software there have always been updates that makes the software better and the scoot drives nicer so always update to the latest version when it comes to Aprilia. When the new version of software is downloaded in the ECU you must again set it in "Dealer test mode" and then you are ok....

Of interest, Peugeot has in it's latest version of Jet Force software deleted the "dealer test mode" function and making it impossible to de-restrict it fully and if you have downloaded that version in the ECU it's impossible to backdate the software to an older version and You are seriousley f*cked...

No, you are software restricted, for info, the restriction is not 80km/h but 8500rpm, if you go at the same speed with and without passenger your scooter is restricted, mine goes about 92km/h and he is in normal mode, not in developer mode (derestricted), but with a passenger I go only at 80 km/h

Sorry but i dont really understand, your scooter is not restricted (you DONT have the gameboy tuning) is this correct?

and your scooter doesent goes the same speed with or without a passenger?

You wrote that if the scooter have tha same topspeed even with passenger, it is not modified, but your wasnt modified and still didnt have the same topspeed?

I hope you understand what i mean.

the thing i really want too know is, do i have or do i dont have modified injection etc (Gameboy tuned)

I wanted to say that I don't have the restriction in the variator but I have the software restriction (not gameboy tuned : 8500 RPM if you care about your engine, it's better to do not tune it)

I think you are not GameBoy tuned (the gameboy change ONLY the top speed because it let the scooter goes over 8500 rpm)

for bahamut09: No, with the newer software you probably will not have a better top end. You can tune it with the gameboy and you will get around 95 km/h. I don't know why mine goes at 92 km/h but it is old, it is from 2001 and have 20000km.

80km/h is the normal speed be warned with the gameboy tune you are more using your engine, and you risk to have more repairs. The ditechs engines are very fragiles be warned. You will not have problems at 4000 km but maybe 10000, 15000.

The limitation has a reason to be, it preserve the engine
