Found this little beauty on e-bay....Couldn't resist.
It took 2 days to fit. Hoping to get away without doing the battery chop....I'm running plenty of ride height.

SWEET.
As you can see I'm in west yorkshire, Drighlington on the A650 between Morley & Bradford. How about you?

her butt is really in the air, but it looks great. nice polish job on the swinger. looks like a mirror.

That's a real beauty.![]()
1. Did you polish it before installation, or did it come in that condition? If so, how did you polish it?
2. Also, have you measured the distance between the drain nipple on your battery box and the top of the swinger?
3. One other thing . . . what kind of footpeg is that? It appears you have the stock rear set with a different foot peg.
4. With the stock setup, I guess you didn't have to deal with lengthening the rear brake hose?
5. I see you have an Ohlins. Did you use the '04 shock linkage?
I love the look of an RSV swinger on the Falco.

Thanks for the kind comments guys...
Martin : I'm in north Leeds - Looking forward to a bit of summer weather and joining in with the madness at 'Squires Cafe'.
Orangeokie :I bought the swingarm ready polished from a guy that produces shiny pewter type trinkets (Hip flasks, Toby jugs etc) - He did it himself at work and is obviously set up with all the pucca polishing gear. He was going to put it on his RS250 but couldn't make it fit.
Distance between my drain nipple and the top of the arm is 2.25 inches (I cut a few mill of the drain tube to make it flush with the rest of the bottom of the battery box for a of bit extra clearance).
The footpegs are home made. Turned and knurled them on my dads old Boxford lathe. I didn't like how slippy my old pegs had become so I made the knurling really heavy on these - and they grip my boots brilliantly. I know they won't fold back on 'touchdown' - but if I were leaning the bike that far over - I'd be falling off it anyway!
Didn't have any issues with regards to the brake hose or chain length (15t sprocket and std rear)
Shock linkage is a bit of a hotch potch....Std Falco dogbone and Mille (2002)sideplates. The short dogbone gives me the extra ride height.
It is high too...It's on the point of falling over with all the bikes weight pivoting on the sidestand. I'm temporarily putting a plank of wood under the stand to make the bike stand up OK.
Haven't ridden it yet but the suspension feels firm too....Only about 5mm static sag. I'm going to have to do some tweaking of the pre-load etc.
Fingers crossed it'll all work out fine.
I've a little more tinkering time before the weather picks up - then I'll just be out - riding it!
Tim
I love the look of the later swingers. Nice job.
So twas you that outbid me on Ebay!! Damn I was so admiring that polishing work...
Must admit that probably looks better on the black one than the red one, hence I feel the need for a black based custom paintjob!!
Nice work, looks brilliant.
Nice arse !!

Now there's an idea I had not yet heard (Falco dog bone with RSV side plates). I'm guessing that would play into the extra room between the battery box and swingarm, maybe?Originally Posted by Timson
Tim,
It looks fantastic, I've just fitted a black 03 mille arm over winter, wish I'd polished it up now, we've got all the gear. Hopefully catch up with you this summer
Martin,
I'm based in Ossett, not a million miles away from you, is yours the black falco I keep seeing???
Have a look on the Aprilia riders site as there a number of Falco's meeting up in June over here in the UK, A lot of the lads are coming up from down south, Hopefully a couple of us (Falco's) are are planning to ride over from Yorkshire towards the Hartside Pass / Lakes area in June for the meet.

Can you post a link for the info on the meet in June? It would be great to have a ride around my old stomping ground with more Aprilias.
Cheers

Its been a while since I've looked in on the ridersite. Haven't posted there for ages (I'm 'BDF' over there - Don't ask!)
Found the thread on the June rideout. Will keep an eye on it and make all efforts to attend.....Though I get very few weekends off due to working funny shifts.![]()
Hope to see you all this summer.

Funny Tim...when I started to read your post, I thought you were talking about Martin's avatar above your post.Originally Posted by falco03

I'm sorry, but I just don't think that the 04 swinger looks all that great on a Falco. Whilst I commend Mark and Timson for going that route, and working out that it would fit etc. It just looks far too angular, against what I believe is the terrific lines of a Falco. Just not my cup of bourbon, (so as not to offend the southerners).
You want polished well here is a pic of the old RSV swinger when mine was first rec'd back from the polishers. Don't forget the sunnies.
Hoh, Hum, another shitty day in paradise!

No, I ride a Black Tuono, I do ride with a mate who has a red Falco. Andy's bike is easy to recognise as it has twin Arrow Carbon cans fitted, it also has Ohlins rear shock and a colour matched bellypan, he lives in Gildersome.
On a side note we are riding to Stranraer, Scotland good Friday, back on Saturday, we have 3 twin rooms booked but only five on the trip so far, if anyone local would like to join us pm me and I'll give you the details.
Martin.
