    Laguna Seca update

I just got back from Laguna and the improvements are in progress as we speak. Right where the bikes cross the top of the hill going towards turn 1 the hill has been cut back all the way back to the Hospitality building and it looks like there is almost 60ft of additional runoff at the T1 apex. That's good news because at the speeds even a SBK runs you get a slight push there. I'm guesing MotoGP bikes will probably carry at least 10 to 20 MPH more.

I didn't see the top section (corkscrew) but that will be addressed when the track is closed in May for the major renovation prior to MotoGp coming to town.

Also, they already have MotoGp sweatshirts available at the track for only $22.00. I'm sure you can get them online at the track website.

    Damn cool looking too!!!

I also measured the distance from my front door to the track entrance. 4.2 miles.

thanks for the update. I have been wondering how/where they are modding the track.

hmmm, 4.2 miles......it will actually take 4.2 minutes to go 1 mile towards the track during the MotoGP weekend (if we are lucky)

seriously....I wonder how many people are going to be there. I know that there was about 90,000 over the course of the AMA/WSBK weekend.
I would hate to be a cop that weekend.

I know they have to move the wall back on the left to create more runoff, but that's all I am aware of. Same with Raineys curve.

There are rumors of changing the track configuration, as it would be cheaper than moving walls in some places.

But I doubt they will ever do that in the corkscrew. It's possibly the most famous turn(s) in all of racing.

I'll dig (pun intended) some more and keep you all posted.

    Thumbs up Tshirts !!

Just ordered mine from the Laguna website. They have long sleeve (available) and short sleeve (presale) for $22. Very cool design. I had just put the Moto Gp trip in the back of my mind and now this comes up and I am getting excited all over again! Well, an old guy takes his excitement where he can........

I will for sure.....I will be doing the Seattle 100 as well. That was way too much fun to miss. I am sure we will be in touch before the grand event at Laguna. Very cool that the cart race with Rainey, etc was added. People are going to be amazed at the cornering speeds! Happy Holidays.

    you're sh*%%ing me...

I ran my blackbird, yes my blackbird, at a track day at Laguna last year (2003) and it was very scary through the corkscrew. Have not been on it with a race bike.

very nice shirts and happy digging...

    Turn 9 Changes

The turn 9 changes are probably a good idea regardless of MGP requirements. Coming off the corkscrew accelerating hard and putting a knee down into 9, its just a matter of time before 3-4 bikes going in together create a pile of high speed plastic, steel and aluminum
