Festival of Italian Motorcycling - Sunday 14th Nov 2004
On the forecourts of the Old Exhibition Building and the New Museum in Carlton, there was a stunning array of Italian Motorcycles on show. The highlight of course being the first official representation of Club Aprilia at this event, and we certainly showed up the more established marques.
The Club attended in a big way! We had a large marquee with a multi-media presentation of video footage from the y ride, Aprilia promotional videos and photos from our Club Rides. We also had the unveiling of our Club banner, which announced boldly our presence at the event and attracted the public to come and admire our exotic machines.
Thanks to all of the Melbourne crew that attended, we had 15 Club bikes on show:
Tony, Mille
Shane, Mille R
Ken, Mille R (Colin Edwards Replica)
Steve, Mille
Ross, Tuono R
Trevor, Falco
Michael, Falco
Graham, Falco
Derek, Falco
Nick, Falco
Jules, Pegaso
Lloyd, R250
Steve RSVR
Adam, RSVR Factory
Tony Spradbury, 02 Mille (silver)
Welcome on board Tony who attended his first Club event.
We were also joined by Cliff and his 2001 Mille R. Cliff turned up this morning unaware there was an active Aprilia Club in Melbourne.
It was also good to see Peter Saunders and Don Phillips, both Club members that came along to show their support. Peter came up from Queenscliff for the day to see the stunning array of Italian bikes. They both brought the family along so were excused for not arriving on two wheels! :-)
Special Mentions go to Tony and Trevor. Trevor was up at 6:30am to make the long haul from Cockatoo, and supplied the Marquee, chairs and tables and a number of other items we used during the day. Tony represented the Club behind the scenes during the FOIM committee meetings, and organised and planned our presence and our banner. He also built and setup the multi-media display.
And of course, congratulations go to Ross, for winning the best Aprilia on show with his 2003 Tuono R. Courtesy of the Festival Organisers, Ross received a bottle of wed wine accompanied with an engraved wine glass.
Overall, an awesome day with very positive feedback from a number of people. Pat yourselves on the back guys!
