    Lake District weekend, 30/31st October

I get lumbered with organising this 'event' every year but it is always a cracking weekend.
This year we have our biggest group ever....about 30 people, approx 20 bikes from various starting points around England & Wales descend on Cockermouth late Sat afternoon after a meandering ride around the North Yorkshire Dales, and the Lake District/Cumbria.
We stay at a VERY welcoming hotel in the town that do us bed, breakfast & evening meal for £42 per head.......the food in this place is outstanding and the non-motorcyclists in the hotel pay WAY more than we do!
There is a meet up for breakfast at the cafe at Stump Cross Caverns between Pateley Bridge and Grassington on the Sat morning at 10am......from there I have a choice of routes planned to Cockermouth......one via Alston and the Hartside pass, one via Coniston and the Hardknott Pass and one via Coniston and the Kirkstone Pass......all are approx 140 miles from SCC to Cockermouth.......choice based on time/weather on the day.
If anyone fancies a brilliant weekends riding, drinking & eating and plenty of laughs in the company of some friendly fellow motorcylists I have had a single room become available........or if anyone fancies joining in part of the ride or the breakfast meet up you are very welcome just to do that........Bilko came and met us for breakfast last year.

It would be nice to have another Futura up front!

Breakfast at 10am tomorrow.....don't be shy.........

From then on I've only got one river crossing programmed into the route......and not via a bridge......after all the rain we've had that should sort out the men from the boys......

Now about water vs Italian electrics........

My apologies Pete but I appear to have missed this thread when originally posted otherwise it would have been right up my street, so to speak.

Getting ready for a night out now and don't expect to see much of Saturday morning so I really couldn't commit.

    Have a good one

Brilliant weekend......bit foggy on Saturday morning but when that burnt off we had blue skies and 60F........amazing for the end of October as in previous years we've run into snow.
Shame you couldn't make it Bilko, and Marco....maybe next time!
Did some real interesting backroads up to Castle Barnard then the B6277 to Alston & A686 back down to Penrith...not done that loop for a while....forgot just how good it is.....
Then A66 to Keswick and the Honister Pass/Buttermere loop into Cockermouth.....
Got seriously pissed on Saturday night......ended up in a disco apparently, tho' its all a bit vague......but I do remember the spinning room when I got into bed.........why oh why do I never learn! Rab's got the right idea but all that Ironbrew seems to have taken its toll on his thatch so there is a downside.......
Deligated the 'leading role' on Sunday as I was too busy trying to hold onto my breakfast to navigate.......went back down the 66 then a 'hasty' ride over Shap to Kendal and down the full length of Wensleydale.......filled up with petrol in Cockermouth and got home on a tankful.......the light came on at 198 miles, it was 211 to home.......which was nice.....
There is no better bike to ride when you're feeling like sh*t......next year I won't drink, go to bed early and enjoy both days riding.........tho' I'm sure I said that last year, and the year before......ho hum.....

Boasting again. I'm sure you've got a bigger tank than everyone else. Or your peeing into it to top it up.

I know, I know........looks like 'things', work & domestic, have conspired against me and I won't be able to make it.......could always have a ride up to Hull and wave you off tho'.......

Anyroad another little jaunt was brought up at the weekend.....Mick is off to Spain (again) next week and there's the possibility of a few of us having a run down thro' France to Castro Urdialles near Bilbao to meet him on his return leg and come back on the Bilbao-Portsmouth ferry....that would be out to LeHavre on the Thursday night and the Monday boat back, which docks Tuesday afternoon......another one of those ideas that surfaces when alcohol has been applied so not sure whether it will develop.....
