EK Superlite sprocket too thin for sprocket carrier? play? carrier bolts hit singarm?

Im installing a 525 chain and sprocket set on a 2001 Falco and the new sprocket (EK superlite 35800-41) is milled down considerably, the original was a thick solid piece of steel not milled down... the carrier has a raised ring that the sprocket fits around and on the superlite sprocket its about 3/16" higher than the sprocket sits. the cush drive/sprocket nuts thus screw down an extra 3/16" and stick out that much farther (the play ends up between the sprocket and the wheel because that lip contacts the wheel bearing race) and the cush drive bolts hit the swingarm.

what am i missing? is there another wheel/carrier set-up? the part number is correct on the new sprocket.

i could turn some spacers for it...

    what gives?

    thanks for any input!

The dished sprockets are for 2nd generation bikes. You can use it but you want the recessed side facing the wheel. I did this once on a Mille and put some hardened steel washers under the bolt heads. You want to be sure they are hardened. You could also just shorten the threaded end.
