    Speedo sensor replacement

Mine has started playing up intermittently, speedo has twice registered zero speed when riding.
Usual crap with the casing where the wires going into the sensor has come away. Before i go all macgyver and strip the casing entirely and attempt a repair and reseal on it i remember reading the sensor itself was available... Anyone replaced the sensor itself or repaired it?

    Hi Colum

    http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/s...ghlight=speedo

i think its a universal Honeywell sensor.

i looked into it after our last Eire meeting because i rode through a flood in snowdonia where Greg and Jim were staying before catching the ferry and after that my speedo didnt work. after i returned home and the bike sat in the garag for a week or 2 i dried out and resumed normal service.

i think though the cables are not long enough so some adaption is required.

    hope it helps.

Jesus, Colum from the past even had a link to buy it lol!

Cheers for that link Jake. Suppose i have nothing to lose in trying to resolder the connections and see does it work. I'm guessing the other end of that connector resides under the tank yeah?

Like yourself it's no coincidence mine shat the bed post baptism on the way to the ferry. Biblical feckin rain lol.

was that on the way back from llandovery?

we saw no rain that day

i didnt get round to finding the location of the loom plug, i can only guess its under the seat or tank.

i was planning to find the plug and cut the old sensor off and solder the new sensor at the end of its short cable, heat shrink it and hide the joint out of the weather.

    hope you get it sorted.
