    Questions about 07 Tuono

    Hi all.
My friend buys bikes at auctions, then forgets to sell them. Recently he has purchased 2 2007 Tuonos. One is stock, pipes etc.
The other one has the exact same paint scheme,( white and blue) but has Akrapovic pipes, the forks say "Ohlins Equipped" and the rear shock has a different sticker on it.
The front calipers on this bike are different as well. Both are Brembo but the new bike has what looks more like monoblock calipers.
I suspect this bike also has Map 2 since it runs significantly better.
So, can anyone shed light on what this model is? I don't think it's a Factory and all the add ons look like they were installed by either Aprilia or a dealer.

Quick answer is that a factory has the dead giveaway gold frame and I don’t remember there ever being a blue Factory Tuono. I know I’ve never heard of one or seen one.

Yeah, it has the aluminum frame, no gold so that's why I didn't think it was a Factory. Just curious about all the upgrades. Looks factory installed.

Also never seen a blue Factory so I would say both are standard gen 2 with a few upgrades.

Besides the Factory model, in 2007 Aprilia shipped two different bikes to the US

    • For part of the year they shipped the Euro 2006 bike to the US and labeled it a US 2007
    • Later they sent the Euro 2007 bike to the US also labeled a US 2007 (nicknamed a "2007.5" by AF1)

You cannot tell from the VIN numbers, both are 2007 US models.

But they are slightly different which is why you will see people here reference a 2007 or a 2007.5 and why AF1 created the nickname to help people when ordering parts.

The front brake calipers were one of the differences. (Four pad in 2007, Two pad in 2007.5)

The Ohlins sticker sounds like a previous owner upgraded the fork internals to Ohlins parts (AF1 sells a kit) and added a sticker.

This thread might help, it includes some of the visual differences:

I'm fairly sure if both are Blue and White, they are both 2007.5 models. One just more heavily modified by a previous owner.

I don't think the Euro 2006 bikes had the Blue/White paint scheme as a choice.

Ermmm... actually no. My phone camera makes everything all blurry. I'll see if my friend can post me some pics. The "Ohlins Equipped" on the forks don't look like just add on stickers. I'm going to check but
they look like a plate or something. The Akrapovic pipes say "Aprilia Racing " on them.
