    Aprilia SR 50 R

    Hello, I am new to the forum and sorry if I am posting this in the wrong section. I own a 2005 plate Aprilia Sr 50cc R model and I have a problem with it which I cannot figure out. Basically, the bike has had problems in the past but nothing like this before, it can get to about 5mph then will cut out and die right down until it switches off, but when I unplug the cable that powers the headlights, the bike can reach up to 35mph then will cut out and jump about still. I have tried pretty much everything I can think of including cleaning the carb, changing the spark plug, and charging the battery fully but nothing seams to work, hopeing someone can help! Thank you I should also add that the bike runs fine while idle with the headlight block cable unplugged but as soon as I plug it back in the bike al,last immediately cuts out

    i think the stator coil could use a test. check if it has any leaks to ground.

    Cheers for the reply, looking at the stator coil now but some idiot has stripped the screws

    sounds like its getting some power but not full strength i guess right? so yeah try a small ground leak at the stator or maybe its the rectifier in the cdi box i think. perhaps one of the 3 hot wires from the stator setup is not powering up or the rectifier is just faulty on one or more of the 3 hotwires from the stator.
    im not sure but its the only route that comes to mind.

    Hello again, been having a proper look at my bike and was playing around with a few things, noticed that when my battery is completely unplugged from the bike, the kick start will work perfectly so I'm beginning to think now that the stator coil is working fine, I will also add that the bike will pretty much not run at all when i plug in the white headlight block in. Any more suggestions will be a huge help thanks!
