    Boots for riding dorsoduro?

I'm interested in hearing what boots people use when riding their dorsoduro.
I'm thinking of a pair of Alpinestars tech 1 boots, but not too sure if they will be too stiff?

Doc Martens 8-hole boots for general purpose, Fly Maverik Shorty boots when I'm getting some on a light trail. And even the shorties are a bit stiff when rowing through the gears. GP shift pattern helps. Less time trying to fit my toe under the lever.

I generally wear high top hiking boots. The ones I have now are made by Danner. They were on clearance for something like $60 in the Sportsman's Guide catalog.

For the track, I use a pair of Sidi boots, but they are not good for walking around once you get somewhere.

If I was going to buy dedicated motorcycle boots for all around use, I would probably get the Forma Adventure boot.

On a shiver rather than a dd, but I have a pair of Elsinore HP 1000 boots from Icon and they're really well built.

Can't attest for anything else from Icon, but I do really like these boots, if they fit your style.

Alpinestars only care about profit margin. Their gear isn't built to last. Velcro closure tab stitching is the worst part.

I remember during motorcycle training the instructor walked along the line pulling our shoes off. If they came off easily he said 'They would be useless in a crash'.

He also said 'The most common amputation among bikers is at the ankle'.....

A decent pair of boots will apparently also make the difference in reducing damage to fractures in an accident where wearing shoes would result in traumatic loss or subsequent amputation of the foot.
I have been riding long enough to know that I'm not in control of where or when an accident will occur and that good protective clothing really does make a difference.

So for me, my everyday wear (even on the Grom): TCX Infinity.

I've had the same pair of alpinestars (~$120 US range) for 6 years now. They have held up great for probably over 10,000 miles of riding. I don't wear them all the time.

    I've a pair of 3.5 year-old TCX X-Wrap high-top style boots that did all duties, on-bike, off-bike, on-road, off-road.

18 months ago, I sadly tested these in a ~ 50mph off resulting from a tank-slapper that broke my thumb (so I couldn't hold on any more). The bike landed on my right leg and trapped it as I began a barrel-roll. This resulted in quite a bad sprain (everyone thought it was a break), but it's healed fully now. My thumb's not so great some days, though. The boots barely have any signs of damage, but will be replaced next season and relegated to light trail duties only.

I also have a pair of RST Tractech boots that I don't really get on with for normal riding.

Revzilla has those on clearance for $104. They are out of my size, though.
