Swingarm conversions Ducati 1098

Hi all

Before I start this, let me just say that all the people that would tell me how bad an idea this is, please don’t. I know about weight and missing stiffness and someone dropped the wheel and so on, but I just want a single side swingarm on my big bore RSVR.
so be happy and drop a line if you know something about this

Question:
Is is possible to fit a Ducati 1098 swingarm to the Aprilia rsv1000r 2004 ?

I found this BST swingarm that I want but I need to know it is can get it on there.

Any help is really appreciated.

Well luckly i Do have all the help I need, but would be nice to have the measures before I order.

My bike is stored for the winter so can’t see it from my house

Anyone with the measures for the swingarm (where it connects to the frame)

I think your biggest challenge will be the shock mounting. A Ducati is totally different. And being the swingarm is carbon you will have no way to change things.

BST swingarm is a direct replacement of a 1198 swingarm for example, but 16mm longer and 2kg lighter, bear in mind that a 1198 swinger is quite heavy to start with!! Price for a BST is Usd 4500. Instead u can get a custom made billet swingarm made up with geometry from an Aprilia swinger but in SS version, with a custom wheel axle to take any single sided wheel brand you want to run.

But,
1198 and BST swinger is 244.8 mm wide and GenII swingarm is 258mm
So it will slide in you just have to machine some spacers and line up wheels, sprockets. Might have to machine a spacer for front or rear or both sprockets.
U need to use Ducati configuration with suspension on top as it's no other way, unless u fabricate a bracket holding suspension unit horizontal and either skip linkage or make something up. You definitely need help from a suspension guru to calculate new linkage ratios, it can be done but awful lot of work and money.

I did a HRC magnesium rc45 swingarm on my GenI and it did slide right in with 2 small fabricated spacers. The set up is actually 1.6kg lighter than stock! I needed loads of help to figure out and machine a proper linkage as chain adjuster is eccentric so as soon as you adjust chain you needed to compensate with ride height adjuster on suspension unit.
But I agree with you- a single sided swingarm is sexy- it's been done a million times on other bikes and only a handful of Aprilias but I still love it!!

I did see a Futura parked the other day and noticed that the frame looked just like an RSVs, so it probably will fit w/ the additional wheel, etc

I'm not sure if you already know but there's a guy (think he's Dutch, he's installing same swingarm as you want (1098) but on a GenI.
