I did all the mod's suggested in here to improve electrics, 240 cca battery, Yamaha solenoid, upgrade voltage regulator and HICAPII cable upgrade. She's been as reliable as my kawasaki ever since.

I've used the std. Battery Tender on mine since the beginning. I believe it even states in the literature that the std. charger can be used.

I've had the same Motocross by Yuasa ytx14-bs in my bike for the last 6 years. It has given me about 50k miles of service so far. I only put it on the battery tender if the bike is going to sit for more than about 3 weeks. At 75,000 miles on the bike I still have the original solenoid. I hard wired the brown connector to the R/R at around 45k, and replaced the stator twice. One was due to a sprag bolt failure around 26k and the other burned out around 62k. I put a KTM sprag in it when the first stator went. Other than that my charging and starting system is stock.

Got the battery, said in literature, it is 75% charged, charge to 100% before using and that using a regular charger could or will void the warranty, I'm putting a Noco Genius smart charger on it.

Also not to use below 14 F, we are going to 22 F, will not be riding, but something I thought interesting, if cold run headlight to warm up battery before cranking!

I believe it says not to use std. chargers that have a high voltage anti-sulfation or pulse modes. Battery Tender chargers do not. It also says do not charge them below 14 degrees, not use them. They work but must be warmed up first.

not liking the batterytender battery, even after turning the light on to warm up the battery, it does not have the power to crank the bike, after a cold night, it did crank it today w a high in the 5o's F, yesterday when it warmed to 40's it could not crank it!

Why on earth are you riding in 40 degree weather? How long has it sat, mine eats it down to not starting in a couple weeks or so.

Strange, that's totally opposite of my experience with 3 of these batteries. Perhaps you got a bad one? You could try returning it under warranty. Sucks though.

yeah I'm thinking that as well, when it's 30 or 35 F your bikes crank strong or strongly or as Trump says Betterly, which I don't think is a word!
