The merging of JP Cycles and Motorcycle SuperStore back in May 3, 2017 after a 2 month "Black Out" period from Feb 24, 2017 with no emailed promotions along with all the liquidation sales that followed set off warning bells for me.

Leather Up and Cycle Gear both are probably hitting hard into their business model. The local Cycle Gear stores generate a lot of business with bike nights featuring free food and giveaways at different stores each week having several outlets in the Tampa Bay area.

The USA motorcycle industry is in serious flux and on a downward trend. This is not exactly shocking news to most of you, but definitely not good for long term viability of US motorcycle market and aftermarket side.

Motorcycle-superstore is liquidating almost everything it appears. 90% off some things. If you get lucky and they have your size you get brands like Dainese half off at the moment for some items.

Didn’t the private owners of Revzilla “sell-out” their business to a larger company (MAG?) fairly recently? Even before this new info, I didn’t think that was a good idea.
    I find tinsel very distracting.

The JW Childs Private Equity Group Bought Cycle Gear's controlling interest in 2015 and about 18 months later in 2016 JW Childs bought out Revzilla for around $400 million. Plan was to not merge the businesses but operate them in a partnership of two separate entities. JW Childs holding Asphalt and Rubber may have originally been involved in the deal.

Micah, perhaps this has no relevance to the U.S. market, but Italy's long-time motojournalist (and original Laverda V-6 racer!) Nico Cereghini says that there was a clear uptick in the number of young people actively shopping bikes at EICMA this year. It wasn't all the usual stargazing at supermodels and unobtainium (is that being a bit redundant?). He saw another increase in little kids wanting bikes when they get old enough!

Like I said though, hard to know if this crosses the pond. From my time in Milan that town is moto-mad already, like nowhere else I've seen.

It is a good sign, the USA lags the EU by half a decade in buying trends it seems. If fuel prices skyrocket again (to nowhere near EU levels) there will be significant intrest in scooter and small bore market again here, there always is.

Went to Motorcycle Superstore and sure enough, big sale running through December 1. Then they're gone, I guess?

No one ever is allowed to sell Arai for less than 10% off retail. But since they're liquidating stock, they are.

But all I saw in Arai were 3 helmets left. Two Corsair X's. The sizes? XLarge and XSmall. Of course, the rest are sold out.

There's a neat Bell Star with an Isle of Man livery in Medium. Discounted from $500 to $199. I should push the button...

Buy it and get the Bell Transitions Photochromic visor for it, you'll love it. Damn that's a good price. The visor costs $200AU here!!!
