I'm not really bothered about the make, the CC or whether it was even ride-able or not as long as its listed on Eblag as a 'barn find' I'll know its an appreciable asset which should be anchored down by chain holding it to the nearest immovable object. H

I think if you can get hold of a mint gen1 fireblade or r1 they must be standard and as mint as you can get with history helps I think if you lusted after a bike in 25 years it will be a good bet eneything that's a special ie rc30 instead of a vfr750.

Bikes I'm on the lookout for are
Honda sp1/ sp2 ( preferably joey donlop led)
Gen 1 blade ( urban tiger)
    Bimota testi
Mv agusta 750 sport ( I know where one is and I've 1st dibs)
    Bmw r1100r randy Mamola rep
    Cagiva elefant 750
    Tdr 250
I just missed a minty, local TDR... I called the day it was listed and it was already sold... I had only just learned about them on a thread here, and couldn't believe it when one was listed locally. At $4500!

Not easy finding a deal on one.

The RC30 prices have been flat for the past 6 years. RC45s rarely come up for sale in the USA. One sold recently for 40k and another for 68k. Only 50 were imported into the States threw Honda and many of those were tossed down the track.

250 two strokes like NSRs TZRs and RGVs along with VFR400s RVF400d and other JDM bikes have really shot up in value too. Even in Japan.

I’m kicking myself for not buying a few NSR250s when they were affordable. Now they’re threw the roof.

It’s not easy to make a profit collecting bikes nowadays.

I’d just buy what you like the most. The very least you’ll have something you can enjoy

What budget/price range are you talking and how long do you wish to hold before selling?

Back in the spring a gentleman collector out here found an absolutely PRISTINE and original BMW R90S in Texas (Austin, was it?), the smoked silver and black version. I could not believe how perfect and beautiful she was, sort of the last good looking motorcycle they made! But anyway. Ted found himself a gem, he enjoys riding it, and if someday he can make a few dollars on the purchase then that's icing on the cake.

YZR750 just reminded me of another bike I've lusted after for years, the Silk 700s, a rare British 2-stroke a modern (in the mid 70's) take on the old Scott Flying Squirrel. A usable investment.

    Spin It!

A 1990-ish Norton F1 rotary streetbike could be what you're looking for, the question is whether you could even find one. Hen's teeth outnumber 'em, 5 to 1. The Barber Museum has an example, however!

Surf on over to YouTube for videos which capture the F1's music, it's fabulous.
