    Considering Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 -

Greetings from Michigan (USA) - I am considering a Dorsoduro 900 for a more fun and spirited bike to add to my collection. I own a 2015 BMW F800 GS and 2012 Yamaha WR250R (street legal dirt bike). My question is: Does the Dorsoduro 900 provide a huge upgrade in fun and performance when compared to my F800 GS? My concern is the F800 GS and Dorsoduro 900 have similar HP rating, torque rating and weight. Is there a big difference when riding the two? I am not an overly experienced rider, 57 years old, 6'3" (190cm), 225lbs. and in very good physical condition. More information - I knew of Aprilia but their dealer network in the USA has not been consistent. A motorcycle dealer just added Aprilia and Moto Guzzi to their product offering and is less than 10 minutes from my home. They have all models on display and the Dorsoduro 900 suits my height quite well. Just a note - I do not believe test rides are available at this Aprilia dealer. The Ducati dealers in Michigan offer test rides on demo bikes and are more established. Thank you for your advice. Regards, Michigan Man.

I've never ridden the F800, but I would put money down the dorso is a more fun and spirited ride.

Motorcycles are an emotional purchase. No doubt the bikes are similar on paper, but... The Bimmer is a more technical riding experience, the Ape a more visceral one.

I considered an F800 when looking for a mid size bike. Very functional but the motor was boring, soulless and had an annoying buzz. So I bought a Shiver 750. The 900 motor seems to be even better. Note the small tank on the DD.

The answer is quite simple: YES

Ive tried them both in the past, and there is just no match.

The DD is a Hooligan and fun bike. The BMW is a light trail-bike with an old mans engine.

My advice: Go for a test ride at your local dealer. Aprilia is promoting the new Shiver-Dorsoduro models.....its as easy as saying that if there is no chance they let you test ride one, there is no chance youll buy them a bike. That simple.

Have a look at the test ride I had a couple months ago:

    My current bikes:
    -2016' Aprilia TUONO 1100 Factory
    -2014' Ducati Multistrada 1200S
    -2007' Yamaha R1 (racetrack only)

If you find yourself in Central Texas we do offer demo rides, and have a DD900 demo
