Referring to these gentlemen's Irish birth heritage is not different than saying "Californian Kenny Roberts" or "Texan Kevin Schwantz". Both are 100% accurate, not in any way disrespectful, and only the most pedantic or impolite would try to correct the speaker with "American". Yeah, sure, the Star Spangled Banner played for both.

Wales is part of the UK, no? Yet commentators always speak of Chaz Davies as Welsh and not the broader term British, perhaps because they realize that is implied and thereby unnecessary to say.

I see Gagne got a pair of 12th place finishes and that Giggy had to retire after 6 laps in race 1, but what happened in race 2? It looks like a dns.

Davide Giugliano DNS'ed race two, he was declared unfit with severe gastroenteritis.

Jake Gagne is receiving very complimentary words from Ronald Ten Kate. Speedweek in Germany says the Californian is a leading contender for Ten Kate's other seat in 2018.

    No not even close.
If you want to put it in the context of your example then substitute "Californian" for Ulsterman.

    "Airport Shrimp Cocktail"

Alton Brown did a tune about his unfortunate experience! I think it qualifies as a public service announcement, and a very good one:

You seem to be overlooking the fact that Southern Ireland, Eire if you prefer, is a different country, not part of the British Isles, it doesn't even have the same currency. Northern Ireland (Ulster) is part of the British Isles.....last thing I heard California & Texas were still States of the Union?
