Beat Honda at their own game.

I have presumed that the heart & minds running Honda during the 80s & 90s that conceived and produced the RC 30 / 45 are now retired and replaced with MBAs / Accountants, rather than passionate Engineers.
That will not happen. Ducati has already said that's too expensive to justify.

Also after reading some of the horror stories about the early Panigale models, I'd stay away from them for a couple generations...

Yea some had issues but mine was relatively issue free and it was a first generation Tricolore. Some are lucky and some are not but I don’t remember any major engine or tranny recalls, just minor stuff. I think the same can be said for all manufacturers and new models.

True statement but that doesn’t mean chubby and old is slow... it’s all in how you use it. It will be interesting to hear some comparisons.

I have no doubt the Panigale v4 will be an excellent bike, I just meant it looks like a chubby version of the svelte v twin Panigale

The specs on the Speciale look pretty good, it sounds like alot of those horsies will be available on an S model with a pipe and tune. 226hp sounds good to me As long as it has midrange punch and reliability, we'll see.

My next thought though was can't wait to see Aprilia's response to this, I'm sure it'll be worth waiting for.

It does sound great but the price point at $39,999 for the Speciale is OUCH. Yep, let's see what Aprilia does... You would think they would be ready for a major revamp after all these years.

I was thinking the opposite actually, the ape has evolved really sweetly, a little more evolution and they'll still be the bike to buy. A couple more ponies and drop a couple of kilos and they're good. I think the only mistake Aprilia have made was to send Marco to Motogp, we would have had more WSBK championships.

I personally think the new Duc V4 looks like an over sized Honda CBR300. I don't care for it at all. No offense to anyone who is getting one, just different strokes... Plenty of folks dislike the Ape, especially my RF's paint scheme, and that's fine by me. Ride what you like!
