    Smile Help

    HI Aprilla readers

I have bourght a classic 50 from 2002, found a nice one hidden for 15 years, and only 700 kilometer on the clock, now to my problem it is as sold from factory, and i goes about 100 km/h, in Denmark it is only alloud to go 45 ( 50 - 55 is ok ), i have to make some throttling. It is a 50 ccm, with Dellorto SHA 1412M, nozzle 64, frontgear 13, and backgear 46. I have tried to put a cork with 10 mm holl in the exhaust, it works, but it dosent go very well, and the idle is impossibel ( goes out ). i am thinking what about making a throttle restriction and frontgear 10 or 11. Please give me your best tips so we can get it on the road the 5-9 ( his birthday )

i dont think so and there is only one jet in that carb anyway. a big jet would start good then get smokey.

do you turn the choke off after it starts?

ok i would do two things. i would look at the sparkplug wire and the sparkplug cap and possibly upgrade the system with good connections.
my solution to all small engine sparkplugs is the same because the sparkplug caps are garbage. i unscrew the little silver nipple on the sparkplug leaving a M4 bolt on the top right. then i bolt the wire to the spakplug after i install a crimped on terminal.

1 terminal . 2 nuts in M4 size (stainless steel) you can cut the stock rubber boot a little and install it too.

    -------
otherwise your looking at a carb removal/ clean and inspect. check float arm. this should fix the fuel starvation at idle. you will see the idle hole in the brass tube. give it a cleaning with a pokey and spray.
    ----
if you have air leaks it will look like leaking fuel maybe.

    --
the reeds should be checked while the carb is off.

    --
if that does not work i suspect the slide could be wrong. in this case everybody with that machine would be having the same problem as you.

    ttys

    try that!

so let me get this straight....you want to find a way to restrict this bike from going over 50...you tried to put a cork in the exhaust to restrict it but now it runs poorly.....

im not sure if you can successfully restrict it just with the carb/airbox and exhaust.....maybe you can restrict the exhaust and airbox and put in a much smaller main jet, maybe a #1 slide....i think it will be very difficult for it to be slow but smooth....maybe theres a way to limit the transmission ..somehow make it so you cant shift beyond 2nd?

we would hit 70kmh since i was 10 years old.... anyway its best to teach crash basics. drop and roll out of it..... if that doesnt fix it nothing will. i fell 16feet head first once on grouse mountain. no sweat/ not a scratch!

if you do a restrictor it should be in the intake manifold for problem free castration. or perhaps a smaller front sprocket will give it more torque and nock off some top speed. i would try 1 tooth less on the counter sprocket and maybe add 2 teeth to the rear sprocket. you can allways go back to stock if you have extra chain around.
