Question Tecnigas GP4 on my Piaggio Typhoon 4v

    I have a Typhoon 2013 4t 4v with 10 400km (6400M) on it.
In April i put a 80cc kit, CDI and gears ratio all from Malossi.
For now i have 1200km(745 Miles) on the kit and run #1 but now the original exhaust broke inside.
It's loud in acceleration and make a lot of vibration inside the exhasut...
This week i'm going to install a new TECNIGAS GP4 on the Piaggio.

I don't know its going to change performance, but I give you news after installation

I install the exhaust Tecnigas GP4 today.
Look very nice and nice sound at idle...

But now the scooter has started to backfire when I let off the throttle!?
    I never have backfire before!?
    What can do this?

backfire at decel is a lean afr/ air fuel ratio.

does it have a carb? if you upjet it/ it might have more power than stock.

the pilot is too big then if its at 2 and 3/4 turns out. it leaves the midrange lean and the topend lean.

Before i put the new Tecnigas, my scooter always run Pilot jet #35 1½ turn and main jet #75 the sparkplug was #1 with original exhaust.
I check the plug yesterday it was darker and wet at the base of the threads...

I try pilot jet #33 always have pop and backfire...

I'm going to check again if the exhaust leak at the base of the engine, i don't like this model, he didn't have gasket at the base only a little ring!!!

is it made for big bore cylinders? maybe thats why it is not jetting easy.

if the diameter is different from one exhaust to the other it is probably for the big bore.

Yes it's for big bore, the tube is little bit bigger...
    I check gain, no leak...
    So it's my Pilot jet!

    Everything is ok now!!!
With the new exhaust, the scooter is faster to reach its speed. I feels the engine breathe better. The sound is great, sports motorcycle style and not too loud.
I did not have the chance to do a big ride, but it seems faster also in top speed, i hit 50Mph very fast and There still remained power little bit ... To be continued.Click image for larger version.

Today i replace the #75 main jet for a #78.
The scooter look faster and more torque in acceleration and 50 mph come fast!!!
But when motor is hot, make sometime in deceleration PFFFT or or one or two BACKFIRE before i make a stop.
Pilot Jet is #35 2 and gas screw mixture 2 turns open....
I do not want to make a backfire next to a policeman ....

try going leaner at the idle jet and running at 1.5 turns.

then double check the mainjet size / it could need more fuel.

that will get rid of the popping noise and keep it cool. if your bike is aircooled you might fing the engine useless for rides longer than 15 minutes. it would need to be extra rich and foul plugs alot faster....

    Problem solved!
I installed the original carburetor KEIHIN NCV 20, with brand new pilot jet #35 and main jet #78.
No more popping or back fire after a long ride of 1 hour on long road and stop and go! On a long road i hit Top speed 51 mph on my GPS.
    I'm happy now!
    Thank's your advice!
