I wish but, I think only KTM and a few very small niche manufacturers see simplicity as the future of engines in mechanical terms. Electronics allow for such mechanical simplicity to work. I cannot wait to ride on the KTM's

I really wish these castings had Aprilia embossed on them...REALLY I wish they did. This motor looks like a real jewel and initial ride reports are only confirming my suspicions that KTM has really done this right! It is counterbalanced too...so if one gets wadded up proper and ends up in salvage pool I would love to take the motor and efi package and try it out in a street/sportbike chassis!

I spoke at length to a tuner/tech at a KTM race team recently about these new motors, he gets his first in October and since I have a bit of two stroke efi experience he had some questions. We both agree there will be little if any real power gain but when I explained how it could be used to control the internal pipe temperature with the right software to widen the powerband...gears are turning. This new KTM is the first bike since the 2010 Aprilia RSV4 or the intro year RC390 to really perk my interest in spending my own money on a bike...I am lucky that as a dealer I get to ride plenty of free bikes at my leisure but I do sort of need a dirtbike for where I live now.

ktm tpi initial reports that original mapping not too good, but just came out
with new map that works better. Not so much power improvement over the '17
carb bike, but better fuel economy and no jetting corrections for elev and temps.
Most hard core enduro riders like Jarvis, Walker, Gomez running carbs this year
    in competition.

I wonder what sort of RPMs these are capable of - most of the direct injection types seem to run out of steam under 10k, which reduces the power advantage of a 2-stroke over a comparably sized 4-stroke - but if these have more time to get the fuel into the cylinder, that shouldn't be an issue, right? I wonder if you could fit such a system to any of the modern Rotax 256 derived kart motors? That would be quite a potent option for anyone building a lightweight track weapon, or especially a street-legal canyon-carver, assuming it'll pass emissions.

Dual transfer port injectors allow for a swapping of loads between sides of intake tract cutting injectors duty cycle in half, or to same as four stroke levels. Initial reports seem to indicate no lower rpm for peak power and more over rev potential.

Ride any new properly jetted 300 2 stroke.
As good as the tpi ktm as far as power.
See what majority hard enduro ktm/husky riders
    Use carb model.

Lucky, my country and the EU have phased out 2-strokes over the years and are now going to be banning them.

EU isn't banning any 2 stroke , they do the same as with the 4 stroke ... higher emissions.
