Thread: 85mm stroke crank, need help

    Hook some jumper cables up to it or you can start it with a drill from the ignition side (rotating clockwise). I rebuilt the top and bottom end of my YZ 125 and used a lot of oil putting it back together. I fouled 7 spark plugs and ended up having to pull start it with a car (doesn't work with a scooter) and it started first kick every time after that.

    Everything is stock now exept the pipe is leo vince touring cos the oem pipe didnt fit anymore.

    I allready had a airsal 70cc sport setup and it didnt last. Not going there anymore.

    A booster could work. I remember seeing videos of geared bikes drilled from magneto but scooters from varioside. Guess it doesnt matter which side. Alltho my magneto side cover is busted and pain in the butt to close so im going to vario.

    Drillling didnt work. Odd is i didnt smell strong gas after quite a bit of cranking. Imo it should get fuel coz line to carb works. I also injected straight thro carb yesterday but didnt work.

    Cleaned carb. Checked lines. Checked reeds. Changed cdi. Took off cylinder head. Poor gas thru sparkplug hole. Result: Nothing. It wont even try.

    Guess ill buy a new stator next.

    testing the stator is simple. just test it first.


    ~ have you tried holding your hand over the carb air inlet while starting it? if that works you can fix it atleast.

    ~ i would also want to know if the float bowl is empty or not.

    ~if the spark is blue then you have spark problems.

    Last time my stator died on me i tried all advice i could find to measure it. Everything suggested it was fine. Well it wasnt so im gona save me from that hazzle and just buy a new one.

    I have tried hand trick on the carb. It only changes noise. So does opening throttle.

    There is fuel in the carb also.


    All i do know is i do not trust a spark. Seeing it doesnt make it good enough. Strange is that the motor doesnt even promise anything when i put gas thru spark plug hole.

    Makes me wonder if it has something to do with the adapter. But it should not affect timing right?

    if your getting a thin blue spark it might not start. it should be white/yellow/orange kernel.

    We will see. I ordered new stator and battery + other bits and pieces.

    Edit:

    scooter-attack just emailed me that my compression tester is in backorder from the manufacturer. Hope it arrives sooner than later.

    Anyway:

    What would be a healthy compression for a SR 50 R?

    Well this cant be right... i changed the battery for a new one, completely charged. Before i was going to measure the compression I decided to give it a last go with a new battery to see if it starts but no.... it does not have thd power to crank the motor. It only tries and makes a terrible noise. I thought it happens cos my old battery was dieing but now i realize that something is horrible wrong assembled. I mean it makes sense now that the kick start was so hard to kick and even the drill felt kind of resistant.

    Fudge. Ill have to first disassemble the variator and see whats going on. I mean what else could make it so thatt it feels like the whole engine is stuck?

    if the crankshaft bearing fit is to tight it will cause alot of friction/ its plain and simple answer. it wasnt in a book anywhere.... when the clearance is very tight on the shaft and case- the ball bearings get stiff. in other words one tight fit might be ok but two tight fits and there is no where to go. maybe it will loosen up or fail premature.

    90 PSI

    its like 6 bar? Too low right?

    yes. like a thin metal base gasket deleted or something. are you positive it was wide open throttle during the test?
