Thread: my tuono v4 horror story. i need advice.

    They also told me 2011-2015 specifically tuono engines all fit. Confirmation? Anything I need to know that could aid in my search of an engine? Cause so far I've only seen a 2014 engine on ebay.

    I tried to post last night and had issues. Marco, I definently will be in contact with you after i get this up and running again. No, I wasn't hitting Rev limiter or anything. I'm one of those who set the shift light low as to not hit red line, i loved my baby. In fact i changed my oil twice as often as the manual says to do. I truly believe the dealer screwed up but the warrantee company is only denying my engine claim based on their assumption that I did not maintain it. I have my proof I maintained it more than I have proof that the dealer did anything wrong.

    I hope you get it sorted! At that kinda mileage, either Aprilia or the warranty company should do something. Not too long ago, Kawasaki authorized a $2k warranty repair on my bike even though it's been out of warranty since last summer. Now, that's standing behind your product right there!! And it was even partially my fault for removing something I shouldn't have. That really makes me want to pick up another one when the time comes.

    Aprilia USA basically said sorry. It's a low mileage bike and all but it is a 2012 manufacture warrantee ended 2 years ago.

    There are metal shavings from the butterflies down to the oil pan. The dealer did tell me after I had them tow it in. That "we started it up and it ran, but now it's seized". That really suprised me considering I brought it in suspecting that it blew and when we tried to get the mileage to write up the R.O. the dash had every warning don't run this engine light it could show. That didn't make me to happy to hear that they did that. Can't you spin the crank by hand with the tibial of one side cover?

    You should have DEMANDED that they did not crank the motor over. You said you 'suspected' that the engine blew?...With damage like that, it had to be apparent.

    The dealer couuld have easily stuck a borescope through the cylinders to see the damage instead of trying to start it...not that it mattered at the point. That dealer is retarded. You need to put their name on front street so people are aware of these idiots.

    She felt FN great after the valve adjustment for those 60 miles. That is until i headed to work, 4 miles in I started feeling a hesitation. No warning lights ever came on and when I looked over my shoulder for a lane change, I see a trail of oil smoke behind me so I start to pull over on the interstate. Before i make it to the show lane the engine shuts off and I coast down the off ramp where it then started leaving oil out. I can't say the damage was our wasn't done yet and didn't know they were planning on trying to start and run it. I wish I could put the name or there but I won't at this time. It's in the attorney's hands at this point.

    Any updates on the discussion with the warranty company? Have you filed a complaint with the state?

    Just had my motor blow to smithereens (valve dropped) at 5500 miles. Kept up with maintenance and didn't run it on rev limiter. Factory warranty expired a little over 1 month prior. Go after the warranty company because I can almost guarantee Aprilia will be of no help based upon my experience. I ended up putting in an 1100 motor with less than 1000 miles in my 2014 (had a valve inspection done on new motor prior to install to be safe). As another thread mentioned...You will need a new dash, ECU,and the new motor if going to an 1100. The dealer will likely need to purchase some other small bits and pieces for the swap but those are the big 3 items you'll need. Just a ballpark estimate you might expect is $1500-2000 in parts and labor not including engine, ECU, and dash. I'm planning on doing a full write up of my experience in the near future after I get her back on the road. Definitely, don't buy a new Motor until you've absolutely exhausted your warranty company option first. YOU PAID/DESERVE that protection
