From bitter experience I have learnt that lens coatings of any sort are unnecessary and a waste of money. Don't be conned, all coatings eventually 'craze' in the harsh Aussie sun - at least that's my experience. However, having worn progressives for years, I don't have a problem with them, but they must be set-up spot-on for each individual. In the past I've also gone the on-line route buying frames and lenses and the savings can be significant - probably a better bet for single vision than progressives though.

Well, finally got around to getting some single vision glasses and went for the bottom of the range just to see it they work ($39AU from Specs Savers).

I am delighted to say that they do and getting a narrower frame, a 52 instead of my normal 55 helps when inserting into the helmets aperature (hmm after reading back that last bit sounds a tad....well never mind!)

I started to have issues reading the tiny (yes tiny) city names off of my Garmin Colorado handheld that I use on the bike.
I had an idea..... It would be nice to be able to stick some sort of flexible bifocal lens to the inside of my visor. Well...someone already thought of it. Hydotac stick on lenses. I bought the 1.75 lens and stuck it to the bottom of the inside of my Shoei helmet visor. It's completely out of the way and all I need to do is look down towards the gps and the lens is in the perfect position for me to see my gps screen. I only used one of the two in the package. Seeing the gps clearly with one eye works fine.

They're flexible and are held on by putting a drop of water on the visor and pressing the lens down onto the drop. Then press the water out from under the lens. Sort of like some clear tank protectors. They are also able to be re-positioned.

Surprised that worked due to the focal length being so long from the forward placing!

    Good solution though.

That's what I thought also.. I figured the distance to the visor, and to the GPS would make things interesting, but it turned out perfectly. I have the Hydrotac far enough down the visor that I only need to glance down and check the GPS.
I think Garmin is making all the city names smaller on their GPS's for some reason..
