Try keeping your thumb on the button for a few seconds after the starter cuts out. I bet it will turn over again.
    Worth a try.

    thanks for the reply.

I have done that, press continuously, but do the same, after 8 or 10 attempts it starts normal.
does it once every 30-50 days, without following a pattern

Mine did that maybe 3-4 times and I had to give it some throttle to get it started. Almost like a carby bike lol

Plus 1. Mine has done this a hand full of times. Turns over but no start. I have to resort to some throttle while turning over. Splutters and clears with some gassing. Not very dignified. It does feel like a vapour lock in the FI.

I have to say that although I get this and the stalled starter issues every so often, my bike has always started within a minute or so regardless. I have read that some Tuono V4's won't start from hot at all.

Regarding the kill switch, there is a delay on the 750 as well. It's something like half a second. If the computer knows where each stroke is, it counts a full cycle once every 85 milliseconds per cylinder at idle - why would it need to wait five whole cycles before stopping? I think the delay is just there to prevent accidental operation - remember early bikes had the combined starter / kill-switch and used the starter to cycle throttle maps.

There is no cam position sensor, so I'm not sure how the ECU knows what stroke it's on anyway. I don't think it's that clever, personally.
I think a lot of the reluctant starting issues are down to the starting sequence on the ECU itself (e.g. oil pressure interlock), sensor degradation and possibly also self-learning.

At the end of the day, a 1200 Capo has a high compression engine with whopping 600cc pistons flying up and down My 1200 Guzzi sometimes struggled to start and occasionally blew a fuse when you pressed the starter. If it was the old days with kick starter technology only, I could imagine losing skin off my shins trying to start such a motor.
