Purchasing a RS 250? california US

well i've been thinking about getting an RS50 for quite some time now. by the looks my brother said i will probably want to go a little high, since the 125 isn't a US model i was thinking of getting a 250.

Anyhow, how much would an RS250 be used and new, also would i have to mix the gas with oil still?

The main thing to realize is that the RS50 is a street legal bike and the RS 250 is not. Atleast in the US.

Both bikes have stock oil injection and just require filling the reservoir.

A new 250 would have to be ordered, if they are even produced anymore due to the fact that Aprilia is switching to four-stoke engines (like everyone else). It would cost just below $9000 US new. Used ones that had (illegally) been made "street-legal" will probably cost a similar amount due to the risk and low availability.

They don't make the RS250 anymore. 2003 was the last year. I'd suggest waiting for the 450 to come out.

I've just shipped my RS250 back to the States, as a race only bike, but it's completelystock and street legal here in Europe. Once into the States, it's easy to get registered. However, mine is being converted to race in the USGPRU series.

where are people getting the info that aprilia 'will' release the rs450?

really, would be a silly move to release a 450, sure it would make the little niche market like us happy but would probably send them broke, it has to at least have 600cc to marketable.

My guess is it will be allowed to race against the 2 stroke 250's, but to be honest, doubt it will be built.

Ducati is in the process of aquiring Aprilia, since Aprilia is nearly bankrupt. Most likely, they will build a 600, as the 250cc MotoGP racing is scheduled to transition to 600cc 4 strokes in 2009.

Ducati will probably influence the future of Aprilia.
