    coolant change

See the many topics on here about it but quickly (!):

*remove bottom radiator hose completely from the rad end
    *remove radiator cap
*remove 10mm bolt from top right of rad
*remove cylinder drain bolts (on bottom left side of each barrel, 10mm bolt)
*tip bike over to left and right several times to drain all coolant
*refit hose and cylinder drain plugs
*remove 10mm bleed bolt from top of water pump casing
*slowly fill with coolant, nice and steady so not to create too many air bubbles. As the level rises, coolant will start to come out of the water pump bleed hole. this is good. Stop filling, now squeeze the bottom hose to remove any more bubbles
*tip bike from side to side then squeeze again
*fill a bit more so that whilst coolant is coming out of that bleed hole, you put the bolt in
*carry on filling until the level reaches top of rad and coolant starts to come out of the top bleed hole
*squeeze hose as before and fill again, then replace top bleed bolt
*carry on filling slowly until coolant is up to top of filler neck in rad
    *replace rad cap
*fill expansion tank until you can see the level down through the filler neck

That should do the job. I've done mine like the above and it ran at 55 deg C on a trackday when weather was 24 deg C (and i was screaming the nuts of the thing all day)

Don't underestimate the importance of bleeding all the air out. Waste half a litre of coolant if you need to but do it properly

As for coolant, I use silkolene premix and it seems ok but some people say use just use demineralised water. Personally, i would rather have premixed coolant because it contains an oxidisation inhibitor.

    Hope that helps!

    Re: coolant change

There is only 1 reason we use demineralised water in race bikes... coolant is slippery, and water is compulsory. If you use water, change it VERY often....

    Re: .

I'm doing it after every race, which works out to be monthly. And I stilll get rust in the water...

I haven't decided whether leaving the motor "dry" between races would help or not, cause as I understand it the air would promote the corrosion <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">
