    Frustrated father needs help!!!!

This rs is about to be thrown across the garage.

    I cant find the problem.

We rebuilt the bike includeing a bottom end and top end rebuild.

Put everything back together and started running it in.

Ran really really well then suddenly starts cutting out after running for a few minutes. Has gradually got worse and now is almost impossible to start.

Have cleaned carb - changed plug - cleaned reed valves - changed the cdi.

Found that the regulator may have been wired up worng so changed that.

    Still wont start?

    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

havent got my RS yet but in my experience of rebuilds it could be anything from the compression in the cil, the plug not sparking, fuel not getting through, the mix being to lean/rich... just for starters.

If you did a full rebuild did you use anb overbore?

check the obvious, turn it over a few times, make sure the plug sparks, and when you take it out that the plug is wet, wiyth petrol, and check the air filter isn't blocked.

tried the spark and it seems to run well then fade out.

Plug seems wet so fuel getting through.

Replaced cdi as thought it might be that?????

have u tried bump starting it? does that work. Also get a compression tester, and check compresion. One of your rings may have gone. Thats all i can think of.

the rings and piston may look ok but this could still be a problem. Check compression to definitely make sure. Also try a new spark plug. Mine wouldn't start once and i tried everything but it still wouldn't start. I then checked the compression and it showed 1-2 bar The ring looked fine when i checked but obviously it wasn't

hi, when i bought my rs50, first time i went on it cut out, took abit 5 mins to start after, then would cut out another time about 10 mins after, then hard to start, then after that it was fine, next day it would cut out the same etc..

a week or so after it got worse, cleaned the carb then it was running well, then someone i know noticed the main bearings are fooked and piston etc.. (even know the piston was new before i bought it) so looks like the bike had probs before i got it.

its now having a rebuild now should be back on the road in a week or so (ordering new parts off craig)..

anyway.. you would of thought its the carb if its cutting out ?

you should expect about 8-10 bar i think from the stock cylinder. if it is like 5 or less then i probably aint gona start.

Check there are no leaks between the carburettor and the inlet manifold. Also how ws your tank stored while rebuilding the engine? Could the fuel tap be full of cr@p?
    Good luck m8

Thanks for all your help guys but we have now found the fault.

Its a loose connection in the coil behind the flywheel causing and intermitent spark.

Now trying to get our hands on a fly wheel puller if anyone has one we can buy / hire id really appreciate it.
