I use the Qstarz 818XT with a Samsung S3 and the RaceChrono app (free). Works great.

Qstarz for me. Works well. Read the manual that comes with it and be sure to charge it up and clear its memory before rolling out. Did a track day in May and logged one whole lap because it was full.

I have a Qstarz for sale in the Classifieds section, but I really would like to keep it ... I'll see if the latest version update of the iPhone IOS 7 works on it.

Once you select the track, the lap timer turns on and records each lap as you cross the start finish line. It'll also overlay the track, time and speed onto GoPro video.
    Hey man!

I'm intersted with your feedback after long use of iPhone + Bluetoothed GPS receiver + Application ... Did your experience changed your mind about the effectiveness of this setup? User friendly? ...

It'll be a couple of weeks before I'm out on the track again, this time it'll be the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, TX.

I'm still a complete rookie as regards to this technology.

I've purchased another iPhone App, TrackAddict and a piece of software called RaceRender, I believe both of these come from the same company.

TrackAddict works pretty similar to Harry's Lap Timer, it also interfaces with the Dual XGPS150A.

RaceRender, which I use on a MacBook Pro, allows you to bring video and GPS log data together and overlap track maps, speed, lap times, etc.. on your video.

I tried it RaceRender out, making a small video driving around my neighborhood, very easy to use.

Will try the XGPS150E + Harry's Lap Timer (Petrolhead ed.) combo my next TrackDay, cheapest option and some great features! Even too many for me ...

Equipped with aero sensing technology and 10 Hz GPS module, GMOS is a one-of-a-kind data logger developed for motorcycle enthusiasts.

It is different from other data loggers in the market in that it captures how YOU perform instead of how the bike performs. It measures and records the 3D motion of your ride, including

      • lean angles up to R/L 69 degrees,
      • longitudinal G’s up to +/- 1.5G,
      • speeds up to 255 MPH (410 KMH),
      • 10 Hz GPS traces, and
      • lap times down to 1/1000 sec.

    ^ "captures how YOU perform..."

I thought that was what the guys in the paddock were doing while pointing and laughing.

    Laptimers gps

Yeah that's the same as one I posted earlier, leanangle.co.uk
I've never heard anyone that's used one yet, I've asked around but nobody I know has heard of it let alone used it.
Don't really like being first one to waste 300

They just came here to the US this year. I know a couple of people that use it. One of the guys I pit with regularly just bought one - he hasn't installed it yet so I don't have a full report.

The technology is quite standard so I doubt there is much risk in getting one and they are actually reasonably priced. I believe they also synch up with video overlay quite well but that's just what I've heard. I've given away lap timers and the last one I have remaining I never even use any more. Maybe next season I'll hook it back up.
