    Work in progress!!

Well I have had a couple of people PM me about the progress of my scoot... Well with the new addition of my son, I haven't had a whole lot of time to complete it... Besides, the powder coater still has many of my parts. He is taking WAY TOO LONG!!!

But here are some pics of where I am at right now...

Here is a pic of some farings that have been painted:

Woah looks nice...just the front with the mesh and the red fairing behind it looks kinda weird. I say loose the mesh.

Sorry, my taste - I rather fancy the mesh... Not loosing it any time soon.

I like the mesh too. I have thought about custom made plugs for my grill for in the winter to close off some of the air.

I'm just wondering how your red middle parts will look with all the yellows, but I trust your judgement. The engine looks great. Did you paint the battery cover parts yourself, or have someone do it? My next step is to powder coat a center stand--what do you think: Blue or Metallic? Pics are in "wich exhaust" I believe.

Well I went with yellow on my center stand. I feel that you need to stick with 2 or 3 colors tops. If you plan on having blue elsewhere, then go blue... Otherwise, go metallic or chrome it.

The red is just an accent color on my scoot. Most everything is yellow and black, but I decided to put some red in the mix also...

My shock, calipers, starter, air filter, and a few other plastic pieces (as shown in pics) are going to be red. But everything else is black, yellow, and chrome. My wheels are getting powder coated yellow along with my center stand. Then my exhaust, bracket, and water pump are getting coated with metallic ceramic. I called the powder coater today and he says they will be done early next week.

Yeah, I was thinking blue for the center stand to tie in my blue Aprilia wheels. I'd like to do my calipers blue also, but they'd have to kind of match the wheels. I'm just gonna buy another stand, because I can't really do without my scoot for more than a day or two(only transpo). Same thing with any other visual mods, I can't send any of my existing parts off.

Can the motor be buffed like aluminum wheels on trucks to look shiny?

I'd like to buy some metal floor board plates somewhere, but hate to order from Europe.

One more question: My chrome plate guy told me to use Nevr Dull to keep from rusting the pipe, but is there a polish that will make the rain bead off better?

To answer your question about the buffing... Yes it can be buffed, but if you take a close look at your motor/tranny housing, you will see that the finish is VERY coarse. It is a poor casting and it would be VERY difficult to buff it all out. You would have to start by sanding everything down semi smooth. Then you would have to go to a small grit paper like 400 or so, then you would have to buff it for hours to get it to come out nice.

Now as for your question about polish/wax. I really don't like never-dull products. I personally reccomend using mothers aluminum and chrome polish. It works EXCELLENT, and it lasts a good while. However, no matter what you use, being that it is on your exhaust, the first time the pipe heats up real hot, you are going to burn any protectent you have right off.

And finally about your floor panels, I look all over the place, and I couldn't find any one in the US selling them. So I had to order from europe.
