I hope I got it right!

This is from TECHNICAL BULLETIN No. 001-2011
    Accessory ECU, Race Map
Client has purchased an aftermarket exhaust system and an accessory ECU with Race Map
    for an My 2009-2010 RSV4

What the Authorised RSV4 Service Centre has to do:
    RSV4 Factory 2011 A-PRC
1- Replace the standard injection ECU on the 2011 model with the RACE accessory ECU for the
    2009-2010 model
2- Connect the Navigator to the 2011 model fitted with the RACE accessory ECU
    3-Select REPROGRAMME RSV4 [09/10>] (>SEPTEMBER 2010).
At this stage, reprogramming with Race map No.1034AD10 RACE A-PRC MAP only is permitted -
    NO PASSWORD NECESSARY
4 -At the end of the reprogramming procedure, select:
    > RSV4 INJECTION > [09/10>]
    > SETTINGS-SETTABLE PARAMETERS
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES MUST BE PERFORMED:
    - Handle self-learning
    - Throttle self-learning
    - A-PRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) - ACTIVATE
    - QUICK SHIFT (electronic gear shifting) - ACTIVATE
5- Install the Race exhaust system
this an example. As you can see there is

    "handle self-learning"
    "throttle self-learning"
    "APRC" (obviously without Quickshift)
    "Quickshift"

So these setting were meant IMHO and have to be done depending on model.

    regards

When I read this it looks like you can set "APRC" and "Quickshift" to activate or deactivate? Or more choices?

And the PADS/navigator shows the setting too before you set it? So it shows "APRC" active, and then you can click on deactivate? And the other way arround?

If I read the Aprilia docu, the aprc and quickshifter set is only needed on aprc bikes. And If it is just an ecu swap, that is standard to race ecu, no setting from aprc or quicksft is needed unless the ecu came from non aprc bike.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

You have to disable the APRC functions on non-APRC bike with the latest maps, otherwise you get errors. You use the same maps with non-APRC and APRC bikes, but during installation you have to enable/disable the necessary functions depending on the bike.

One thing to note is that in new RSV4s there is also ABS and Navigator don't have controls for that, so you need PADS. Beard is waiting for someone to log those APRC setting functions.

Thanks, got it. The issue is with ebay, I refuse to do any more business with PayPal and that seems to be the only way to pay for ebay items these days.

My turn to get involved with the guzidiag.

I have purchased the required adapters from the links in post number 3 but i cant get the system to work.

I have uninstalled and installed separately both versions of the drivers from the guzidiag website, I've connected in the correct sequence and adjusted the com port settings but still no good.

When i try to connect using the software it tells me to turn on the ignition (which i have tried both on or off at this stage) it then says "ignition off" and does not connect.

I have ran the diagnostic test and the result comes up with some garbage characters and a time out error. The red LED does not light up on my lead.

I have not yet checked the pin out on my adaptor leads yet.

From reading this thread these symptoms are very similar to those experienced by xcrozx who finally managed to get his working by getting a new cable so I guess that is my next course of action.

Any other ideas other then a new cable?

    maybe the adapter is cross-wired.

try to connect the obd cable straight to the 3 pin port using single wires

If you look in device manager, and at the com port at the driver tab ,what driver does it show installed?
The testprogram tests if the pc can communicate with the FTDI chip, not if it connects to the bike.
The led on the adapter should go on if you connect it to the 3 pin on the bike and the red crocodile to the battery. If that is not working it might be a wrong wired 3 pin adaper, sometimes someone has been sleeping in China, and made the wrong connetions. The 3 pin adapter has no electronics in it. You can measure if it is ok.
