    Mike,
Welcome to the screwed & glued club. Now you can tell the TSA exactly why you tripped the alarm. Glad it's knitting.

    Side stand switch

I was cleaning the side stand pivot today, and 2 of the wires fell off of the switch
New switch is $90? Not Happening, as long as the switch can be repaired. Carefully de-soldered the wire remnants from the circuit board, re-assembled, and built an epoxy strain relief at the switch housing.

Had the same thing happen to me: two wires had 'rotted' through and the copper was pretty black and useless going up the wires, so I bypassed the switch.

I know myself well enough to not bypass that switch, or I'd end up flat on my ass within a week, probably with the bike on top of me. But yeah, those were the exact same symptoms I had. I made a complete new wire harness for the switch and soldered it to the little circuit board. Then built a cage around the wires with masking tape, filled it with hot melt glue, and painted it black after it cooled. Rock solid now, and no way water/dirt will affect those wires again.

Had my Capo in for a diagnostic check, in D15 Motorcycles, just west of Dublin City, as it wasn't ticking over evenly and revving up to 3000rpm when cold. Discovered some vacuum tubes were porous and drawing in air, so had them all replaced.
Now running like it shud again Happy Days

Was there in June for 2 weeks and back again in October for 2 weeks. (Love that place) I keep my V-Strom 1000 down in the Algarve with friends, so that helps. Was also doing a lot of driving aka work here in Ireland and didn't have time for the bike, or to get it sorted.

Well - I have done nothing - quite yet but the burner is lit - heading down to Death Valley for the noobs rally in late March (hey that rhymes )

Aside from getting a new front tire (my TKC 70 is rear is super shape - the front not so much), I made an online trip to Eastern Beaver and bought some bits and bobs from Jim.

I'm fitting a new CE 605 series type r/r on the top of my madstad screen plate - I'm keeping the wiring and the old r/r in place - nothing more than a connector swap if something fails. At least for now.

I also bought a headlight harness with one light switchable. Virtually all the voltage drops I see are when I am idle for a long time in heavy traffic as things heat up, so dropping one light seems to be pretty reasonable and an inexpensive mod.

Whoop, finally got around to doing something for the Capo, just received a new Oberon slave cylinder.

Wish I'd done this sooner as the cost used to be around £70 and now they are £92!

My original one has just started failing on my last journey which fortunately was only 10-15 minutes from home. It got very spongey and at low speed was snatchy as I wasn't able to properly regulate the clutch. By the time I got home it wouldn't disengage so just stalled and clicked bike into neutral to push in the garage. It hasn't moved since so looking forward to getting it back up and running.

All the other recommended mods are done so this is the last item which was on the mid term radar so at least it'll be another job done!!

just change the OEM clutch seal every 4 years or something (€ 22 at Aprilia).
and every 2 years the fluid. and you'll never have a problem with it.

Thanks Stanley/Geoff maybe I’ll refurb the Capo one in preparation for the Tuono which is still working fine for now although I’ve probably just jinxed it!!

I din’t know the seal was available seperately, guess I should have checked on the parts fiche!
