    Tank Pad

I know this is a silly question, but...

I have a white/silver Tuono, which comes with the matching white tank protector pad. Anyone know how to clean the stupid tank pad back to white? I've done a pretty good job keeping it cleaned off so far, but the thing seems determined to discolor (to say nothing of it picking up every color of scuff possible from everything that comes within three feet of it). I'd just replace it with something else, but I recently heard a horror story about peeling off paint when removing it from an RSV.

I have a 2007 Tuono in flat black/gray. I replaced the tank pad because the gray sections on mine were all scuffed up and looked terrible. When I removed the old one, one of the larger sections peeled a small patch of paint/clearcoat off the tank. It was very unnerving. Fortunately the new pad covers up that spot. It is not a testament to the durability of Aprilia paint, that is for sure. If you decide to replace it be careful. I left mine out in the sun for a few mins to let it warm up before slowly peeling it off. That might have made it easier to peel the pad off, but harder on the paint. I can't say for sure.

I have a clear oem pad over my 2007 white/red tank, and I had black scuff marks on there until I finally tried to clean it with some IPA (alcohol), that cleaned it right up. Another one to try would be acetone, but with that you have to be VERY careful not to take some Tank paint off by accident.

I've got the same bike and mine is looking pretty bad too. I've always thought that if I tried to get it off I would use a hair dryer to help get it off.
