Post DIY Multistrada Valve Check & Adjustment

I recently did the 15K service myself and wanted to share what I have learned for others to see what's involved and maybe inspire other do it yourselfer's out there.

I'm not a Ducati mechanic just a motorcycle enthusiast who likes the satisfaction of working on my own bikes and saving money

My resources for this project were the official Ducati workshop manuel, Ducati Desmoquattro Maintenance & Modification Guide and CA Cycle Works.

Below is the PhotoBucket link to how I successfully checked & adjusted my valves.
    Hope you enjoy.

Good job. How many man-hours would you guesst-i-mate for this job? Any idea how many hours the dealer charges, or do they use a flat rate?

Testasrretta is perfectly logical and MUCH easier to work on that the Desmoquatro was. Even with its issues it is a gem of an engine.

Truer words have seldom been written! Anyone who has worked on the desmoquattros and realized they were three hands short of making the job easy will agree. I've taken some of Cessna TPA's pictures and words and put them into a quick valve adjustment guide. There is also an accompanying work sheet to use when recording measurements and it proceeds from initial measurement to final (replacement) shim size sequentially. You can find the pdf's here:

    http://www.ducatitoolrental.com/uplo...Adjustment.pdf

    and the work sheet:

    Now for the shameless plug:
If you find the burning desire to dig in and adjust the valves, change the belts, replace the clutch, put on a new chain, or remove the fly-wheel for fun you can find the tool kits (and shim kits) for rent at:
    www.ducatitoolrental.com

make sure to talk to Evan (oh, that's me!)
