    Oil Loss

My bike has huge amount of oil built up on the inside of the transmission cover (left of the rear wheel) and on the backside of the motor in front of the rear wheel. Enough oil that when i wiped it down with a rag it was like I had spilled oil on it.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the air hose coming out of the crankcase but I can't prove it. I'm at a loss as to what is happening here. I haven't seen this happen without a gasket failing and I don't think that's my case. Has anyone seen this or experienced this before? I'm worried I might have done damage to my transmission because I'm not sure how long I have been riding it like this.

Tomorrow I'm gonna go pick up a socket so I can pull the rear wheel off and get a closer look at what's going on and I will take some pictures then.

Determine if it is gear oil or 2T oil. Your oil pump is in there and it can run back.
Check your oil level on the gear case dip stick.

I think it's gear oil. I changed it out earlier today and there wasn't a whole lot that came out. But I will double check. How can I tell the difference between the two?

Compare it with the 2T oil you are using.

I'll get on it in the morning and get some pictures. Hopefully figure out what happened. What size socket do I need to get the rear wheel off?

So I can clean the oil off. The fender removed wasn't enough space to get it all. I got a late start this morning but I'll get some pictures posted up in the next hour or so.

Here's a couple quick pictures of what is going on. If I had to guess I would say its 2T oil because it's not real thick, but I can't tell the difference between the two. I'm running Agip for my 2T oil and I have Motul 10W-40 in the transmission.

Also, I pulled the hose going into my water trap and noticed that it had expanded a good amount where it leaves the motor. I'm not sure if this normal or not, so I thought I'd see what y'all thought.

That may not be proper fuel hose.. there is oil going in there which is my guess of why it is expanding.

Best thing to do is clean up the area where the compressor is and see if you can see it leak is you idle your engine. there is a drain hole in the fender so oil may of been going in there and spraying up onto the case

Is it possible for this to be caused by the hose coming out of the compressor?
The reason I ask is I noticed, when the motor was off, that if I move the hose the air pressure starts dropping.

that is probably not a tight fitting.. and could still be caused by the wrong hose.. More then likely the air hiss you hear is coming from where you have it connected to the Compressor.. a sharp turn into the compressor can cause a kink or a bad seal even with the hose clamp as tight as possible. I know this because it happened on mine.

I would clean up the area in Pic #2 the whole area.. and see if you can find the leak. Check the hose going to the right side of the compressor first.

That's probably what is happening. I bought some more today to switch out. Its 1/4" ID fuel hose from lowes.

Well I went ahead and cleaned her up the best I could. Put a new hose and clamps in place from the compressor to the in side of the water trap. Also reset the TPS and fuel regulator just because. Transmission oil levels were fine so I went for a spin and she's running flawlessly as far as I can tell.

Gonna keep riding like normal and see if anything is different at the end of the week.
