    Anyone!?!

So i recently went to a track on the ape 550 and was for being slow.... but in all honesty the bike felt very very unstable and did not feel comfortable at all.... so tonight i decided since i just bought it i would check the suspension. Dont ask why i didnt do this before. But i found that the compression and rebound for the rear shock were almost all the way close No wonder i didnt like the bike at all.

So these are the changes that i have made.

rear race sag set to 70mm
lowwered the front end 3 rings
set all rebound and compression to stock settings.

From there do i have any people that will give me a suggestion for a starter setting for a track setting.

    I am 200lb.

Rear shock goes off very fast on track, Sachs kit and decent front pads/fluid are minimum you need for track riding, both fade badly within very few laps

Are you running the stock spring on the back? And is that 200 without gear (Gear is another 30-35 lbs)

The stock is too light for your weight. Do a search but I think a 6.0 or 6.2? are available. There are are many threads about the front springs being too light also.

Swapping to a heavier spring is not that hard or expensive. I'm guessing the previous owner tightened up the suspension so much trying to overcome an undersprung condition. I went through this on a GSXR750. (I'm 235) I firmed everything up to try to improve the handling. Finally put the proper spring on the back, opened up the dampers and it handled so much better and was plush to!
BTW, you can normally get the proper sag even if the spring is too light.

The spring does not alter the fact that even full rebound is too soft, and after a few laps it overheats
If you put the bike away untouched, and go to it the next morning , push the seat down, it will stay down !!
