    False Neutral

I have the 2000 RSV R and like most struggle to find neutral while engine is running...even after a new Barnett clutch.

My question is....do these bikes ever JUMP into gear while simply on the stand idling while putting on your helmet or gloves..... For some reason I don't trust that it's 100% in neutral?? Could be VERY embarrassing!

    Thanks,

    Jerry

I've never once heard of one of these bikes jumping into gear while on the stand idling. I've had mine on the stand numerous times while idling and never had any issues.

I think you're just being paranoid, I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Mine never has. Also I feel neutral is easier to find with fresh oil and I use mobile 1, not to start an oil war again!

Also, this could help with your false neutral situation...

I've heard from numerous people who run that product on their bike that it definitely makes finding neutral a lot easier.

I have over 49,500 miles on my bike. It is a little hard to find neutral sometimes, and it will creep forward a bit in gear with the clutch lever pulled, especially when it is cold, but I have never once had my bike jump into gear from neutral. It is still on the original clutch too. If you want to make finding neutral a bit easier before you go and shell out $200 for the shift star kit linked above try installing a .40 oil jet. http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/s...hlight=.40+jet

Excellent feedback....I'll stop worrying about it then!

Thank DanV990 for the clutch jet link......AF1 wants $8.95 to ship it to Florida, so will wait to bundle with another purchase. Sounds like it will help with the neutral problem. Easy install too!
